2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Eulogy. Pitch black pour with a tight foamy head. Runny lace. Burnt red fruit. Plums. Chocolate covered dried cherries. Liquorice. Body feels thin for a Russian Imperial. Looks nice. Tastes okay. But heres an example where the wine barrel really detracts from the experience. Reduces the body, confuses the taste, and pretty much destroys the aroma. Wouldnt have again, but look forward to finding the Whiskey version.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap @ ZBF 2013.
Pours completely black with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma has chocolate, light coffee, mild oak and fine roasted malts. Medium carbonation, nice dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is roasted, dark chocolate, oak, soft fruity tartness. Light and very well-balanced with good malty dryness in the finish. But only perhaps a bit too light from the barrel aging.

almost no head with a beige mocha-colour. dark coffee coloured beer. a nice aroma of coffee, chocolate and whisky notes. superb taste of vanilla, chocolate, some sweetness followed by a nice bitterness. very well balanced and with a long lasting complex bitterish aftertaste. the abv is well hidden too. another great beer from Het Nest and off-topic a very cool label as well! :) canít wait for this beer to become available in a bottleshop. tried at ZBF 2013 on tap on 27/04/2013
