1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 Emil (6070) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 6, 2005
Bottle. Muddy yellow colour with a huge white head. Yeasty, citrus fruity, aroma and a fruity, caramel taste. Medium body and a dry finish. Not a good Blond.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 sayravai (4654) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 7, 2005
(Bottled) Hazy golden-orange color with a large, foamy and lacy head. Mild, candy-caramely, earthy aroma with acidity and some fruitiness. Dryish, toffeeish, aromatic-flowery-hoppy flavor with some dish-washing liquid. Medium-bodied, foamy-carbonated palate. Lies somewhere between the characterless Belgian amber ales and the tasty Orval-like, dry hop-soups. A bit closer to the first one - but not sweet, which is nice. Lacks the delicious and refreshing characters making up a really good brew, however.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 pilsnerrogge (2271) - Finspång, SWEDEN - JUL 23, 2005
Golden, muddy colour. Large head. Faint caramel aroma. Faint toffee flavour. Sharp bitterness. Unbalanced.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Geiserich (2559) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - JUN 2, 2005
Bottled: Notes of cough syrup in aroma and flavor. Dry with a hop bitter note. That’s not my cup of tea.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cornfield (5276) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - MAY 7, 2005
Nice pouring, a tall fizzy white head capping a hazy straw-colored body. The aroma is a soft malt, refreshing with mild floral and citric scents hovering about. It’s got a sweet malt taste with a lemony twist of acidity followed by a mildly bitter herbal finish. Tasty drink.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gusler (2654) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 14, 2004
The beer after its repudiation of the 330ml brown bottle takes up temporary residence in the glass a slightly hazy gold with a Brontosauric sized head that is creamy in consistency and the color an off white as it deliquesces the lace forms a solid sheet upon the glass. Nose is malt dominated, citrus like in its crispness, clean and fresh to the senses, start is sweet with a pleasant malt profile, the top light. Finish is authoritarian in its acidity with the hops delectable in their spicy presence, the aftertaste desert dry and long lasting, a nice refreshing beer.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 fomentateur (110) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 3, 2004
Nice white head. Poured golden to orange in color. Bright until the yeast from the bottle was poured in the glass. Aroma is slight estery. A hint of pepper in the aroma and flavor. Refreshingly bitter and dry. Clean finish. Little to no aftertaste.
