25cL bottle. Fairly simple blond beer lacking complexity. Nice and refreshing to drink but nothing fantastic. Appearance, aroma, flavor and finish were okay but lacked any strong/unique character.

Bottle @ Schraevenacker, Oostvleteren, Belgium. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, honey, light spice, little fruit. Flavor is malt, sweet, yeast, honey, some spice. Thin to medium body, lively carbonation. 010814

The light version of Antiek Blond, primarily targeted to export. Irregular, off-white head on a light golden blonde beer, almost ’pils’-coloured, bright with medium sparkling, however becoming equally cloudy after addition of the ’fond’, as is to be expected in a bottle-fermented ale. The nose gets a lot of freshly cut apples and pears, next to more subtle impressions of freshly grated ginger, sour cream, iron, wild flowers, vanilla, spring onions and grassy hops, but after adding the yeast deposit more sweetness, as in pineapple and honey. Taste begins with a subdued fruitiness, strong carbonation, pilsener malts, a bit bready with a sourish hint (probably a mild form of infection), mineral-like, in the end grassy hops, bitterish; not too well-balanced but thirst-quenching nevertheless.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, copper-ish golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Cautious, rather expressionless, yeasty aroma. Taste is minimally sweet malty, cautious spicy yeasty overtones. Somehow not palpable, concrete, yeast in deep sleep, standby mode, refusal to work.

Dorée trouble, effervescence moyenne, col blanc fin. Céréales bien présentes, herbeuse (terreuse même), légèrement épicée avec un petit fruité qui arrive sur la fin, amertume moyennement houblonnée.

330 ml bottle. Rated on 2.3.2013.
Pours a clear golden colour with a white foamy head. Aroma of honey, mellow citrus and mead-like sweetness. Aroma of grainy malts, mead, floral notes and grass. Some off-flavours. Light bodied, harsh mouthfeel and high carbonation. Harsh and grainy finish. Not good.

Swaroga (1304) - Brussels, BELGIUM - FEB 17, 2013
33cl bottle. Filtered , golden with medium , perfectly snowy white head. Nose : citrus and grains. Sip : low density with creamy texture. Medium carbonation. The beer is moderately sweet and reveals from start citrusy and zesty overall refreshing character. Becoming dry that lasts till the end. Light bitterness in the finish. A bit soapy. Refreshing and easy to drink. Nothing exciting though.

Bottle from a shop in Belgium. Hazy yellow liquid with an orange tint, big fluffy head. Fruity smell with apples, yeast and earth cellar. Similar taste. Decent, but doesn’t stand out.
