Bottle at the brewery. Decent enough tripel, but lacks the character of the Antiek.

Bottle at DHL during Paul’s Pre-Wedding Festivities. Vintage 1991. Pours clear ruby with a small, white foam head. Looks good and seems to be in good condition. Big and sweet aroma with some dark sugars, candi, toffee, ripe berries and molasses. Nice flavor, too, and very sweet, with some toasty sugars, mild leather and cake. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky sweet finish with some lightly syrupy caramel, toasted sugars, toffee, candi and bread. Quite nice. Has held up incredibly well and taken on some very intriguing characteristics.

CaptainCougar (6835) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUN 14, 2009
Bottle sampled on 10/25/08 courtesy of yobdoog: Pours a cloudy pale golden with a spotty lacing froth of white head. Aroma of dry earthy toasty pale malts and aged hops. Body starts with an earthy bitter sweetness and some grassy notes before a drier finish. An interesting and well-balanced aged Abbey tripel.

I was hoping this one would be better. Maybe not my flavor. Cloudy amber with a fluffy head. Aroma is sweet with some odd earthy spice. Taste is almost a bit soapy and some cardboard with some moss and dirt.

Bottle 33cl. [ Vintage 1991 ].
Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, caramel, oxidied malt, vintage malt. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20081212]

Bottle shared by Yobdoog. Pours a nice hazy golden blonde with a frothy lasting head. Aroma is a bit earthy with a touch of phenol and cork- but mostly dougy, light yeast, toasted malts and a bit bready- earthy and herbal hops. Flavor had a slight metallic hint with slight oxdation- slightly old? Dusty earthy flavors with more cork esters- banana and a phenolic almost chlorine-like solvent thing going on with a bit of green grassy hops in the end.

kramer (3457) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 3, 2009
25 oz bottle, shared by yobdoog. Pours a very cloudy blond body with a one finger white head. The nose is just all wet cork and yeastiness, I really couldn’t make out too much beyond that. The flavor is equally corky, making it very bland and dull. Some pale malts and lots of yeastiness, light spice. Lively and foamy mouthfeel with a fairly light body for an 8% beer. Overall, this was just not so good. I couldn’t get past the wet cork that permeated all aspects of it.

Bottle shared courtesy of yoboog. Poured a deeper and cloudy golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of yeast, cork, citrus, spices, and some light fruitiness. Tasteso fcitrus, fruity (more than the aromas), and light spices.

Poured a murky golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus fruits, cork, light floral hops, toffee malts, almonds, coriander, yeast, and hay. Taste of vanilla, toffee malts, light spices, citrus fruits, yeast, and light alcohol in the finish. Thanks to Trevor for sharing!
