COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who says brewers can’t pluck your heartstrings? We’ll play right to your heart (and palatte and belly) by taking our already smooth and rich Double Brown Stout and taking it out to a night on the town. By adding real Red Tart and Dark Sweet Cherries at the beginning of fermentation and (Organic/Fair Trade) cocoa nibs at the end of conditioning, once a year we treat out Double Brown Stout lavishly. Don’t be a selfish lover, share this with someone special.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2012 (22oz bomber) deep brown with hints of ruby, unfiltered and creamy long lasting dark tan head that’s very finely bubbled. This beer looks how a beer should, cloudy, rich, and exceptional lacing. Nose of cocoa, roast, cherry juice, and cream. Taste has tons of cherry, cream, cola root, and ridiculous amounts of cocoa nibs. Very chocolaty and as far as the "cocoa nibs" taste, this beer has more of it than any I’ve probably ever tasted. The body is creamy and has a great linger with a cola-like carbonation. Really nicely done.

Bottle via a trade with ericandersnavy. Pours with a black body and a large tan head. Aromas are of medium roast, earthy, tobacco, cocoa nubs, cherry, dark fruit, vanilla, clean yeast wise. Flavors are of vanilla, cocoa, earthy, cherry skins, tannins, nice toasted malt component, candied cherries, dusty and clean. Medium bubbles, somewhat dry for what I expected, medium alcohol presence.

Interesting take on a Baltic Porter, the chocolate is nicely pronounced and the cherry is a very high note that is nicely refreshing.

Yes, this beer passes. Its deep brown in color but may have a cherry tint when held to the light if you use your imagination. The head is a small, dirty ring. The aroma is mild and choclately. The taste is cherry first, balanced beer (malty sweetness, and hoppy bitterness), and chocolate last. It draws down clean and leaves no lacing on the glass. Its a good enough beer to pour a second half pint, in spite of the adjuncts; it doesn’t fall into the desert beer category. There’s just too much good beer taste stomping on the cherry and the chocolate.

On tap at the Holy Grail Pub in Plano. The beer pours a reddish-brown color with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of strong hot chocolate notes with not too much else coming through. While the cherries are absent in the aroma, they are up front in the flavor. There is a little bit of chocolate in the aroma, but overall I think the beer tastes a little bit medicinal. The body a little bit thinner than I like and the carbonation is about medium. Overall, the beer was not bad but was a little disappointing. I think this is a step down from the regular Double Brown Stout.

Tap...black pour with a thin khaki head. Nose is chocolate, faint sweetness, roasted malts, and more chocolate. Smooth on the palate, cherry is there but very faintly, heavy roasted malts, chocolate, and a bitter cocoa finish.
