Sampled at Schlafly 2012 Repeal Fest. Pours very dark brown with a deep orange brownish head. The aroma has dark roasty malt, dark fruits, light soy, some earthy hops and dark caramel. It has a full slick rich body with light carbonation, but some sharpness to the finish. The flavor starts with roast, dates, smooth char, alcohol and a good bit of sweetness. The finish has earthy hops and a bit of an alcohol punch. Nice imperial stout.

Draft sample at Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition Festival 2012. Pours a deep, dark, opaque chocolate brown with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, syrup, cereal grains, and just a hint of rye. No rye in the flavor, though, which is led by the candi syrup, with dark fruits, brown sugar, chocolate, and some roast. Medium-full bodied, with a syrupy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Very sweet imperial stout.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GODiSSOUTHERN (189) - Virginia, USA - FEB 18, 2012
Pours very dark. Aroma and flavor is predominantly of tart yogurt and chocolate. Definitely different from other imperial stouts.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 kidmartinek (1849) - austin, Texas, USA - JAN 30, 2012
A malty chocolatey sugary sweetness with some balancing bitter notes describe the aroma. The beer appears black on the glass and though well may have head, leaves none to enjoy for the drinker. The flavor is milky with lactose and perfectly described as a double brown. Bittter chocolate is the characteristic flavor that pulls through the rest. The beer has a steep, quick carbonated bite followed by nothing and then an alcoholic burn as it passes down the gullet. Correct me if you will, but if you will, that means you are probably short another drink.

Tap at DEBC. Pours a dark black color with a tan ring of head. Aroma is alcohol, dark chocolate and sweet notes. Flavor is grapes, sharp dark malts, bitter notes with a super sweet flavor. A little much I think safari as the residual sweetness.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dixonian (1200) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 5, 2012
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2012 On tap @ the Common Table.Pitch black with a nice tan head. Aroma is very enticing with some roast, chocolate, and citrus. More citrus and chocolate in the flavor with a bit of rye spice. Smooth and easy drinking with a very well hidden ABV. This is by far my favorite brew yet from DEBC and I can?t wait to see what they come up with next!
