Bottle. Dark brown pour with mocha head. Smell is sweet toffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is earthy, a tad mineral, chocolate, roast, dusty. A bit odd. Medium mouthfeel. Just ok.

Pours a very dark brown with a thick khaki head that had some retention but did dissipate somewhat quickly. There was some lacing around the glass but quite minimal. The aroma is dark toasted malts, oats, some woodiness, and alcohol. In the flavor I pick up the dark roasted malts with woodiness to go along with some hop bitterness. There is some oak characteristics in this beer. On the back end I pick up some of the sweeter chocolate and oatmeal flavor as well. Was hoping for something better but still worth a try

Poured from a cool-looking can into a nucleated schooner glass, thanks Greg! Opaque dark brown colour with sudsy beige foam, thin but long-lasting with a little lace. Extremely malt-forward with lots of complex caramelization. Toffee and massive molasses impression, merging with non-descript hoppy balance to produce a perfumey Belgian Dubbel effect. Subtle toasty and roasty notes, but not as much as most stouts, lacking typical dark stone fruit tartness too. Technically a Baltic Porter using lager yeast, thus there were no ale yeast esters or phenols. Grainy with a hint of sharp rye bite and lots of lingering Munich malt stickiness. Complex, but somehow I just don’t dig the whole as much as I expected. In this case, the whole is less than the sum of its parts, a bit of identity crisis going on, not really true to any particular style. Eh, I don’t usually care about that either, but this is just kinda all over the place, like an overly-ambitious homebrewer who never figures out how to bring it all together. Good not great, glad I had a chance to taste it.

Can. Dark brown. Somewhat sweet at first than rolls to dryness. Several layers to this one. Im not sure this beer knows what it is.....would have guessed brown before a stout or porter of any kind. Enjoyed as a porch beer. Thx Anthony W.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of nuts, toast, and hint of coffee. Medium to full body. Palate echoes the nose with flavors of toast, nuts, coffee, and a hint of chocolate. Decent length on the finish that leaves you with a pleasantly bitter coffee flavor.

Sample at Kurtkeller 020: Stout-tastic 01 on 02/22/2015. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. the aroma consists of roast malt, chocolate and a bit of hops. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate and mild coffee. The finish is roast malt up front with a mild earthy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is toast with plums. Taste is sorta like a root beer, cream, caramel, toast. Thin watery brew that is very chuggable. Not much of a stout but rather more like a brown ale. Rating as stout but would give better score if the word stout was removed from lable and it was sold as a brown ale.

Pitch black body. Sweet malty, bready aroma. Taste of sweet dark fruits like dates, raisins, and plum. Strong carbonation. Medium body. Bitter aftertaste. Too short finish.
