3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma of roasted malt with a hint of spice. Pours a blackish brown with a mostly diminishing tan head. Taste follows the nose. Sweet roasted malts, spice, with wood notes and a bitter finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, very drinkable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not seeing this as a baltic porter...or a stout. Kind of a strong brown, and a little bit of a let down. Light roast and hints of anise (if you work really hard) with a little coffee and chocolate. Not bad, but lacking the heartiness I like in BPs or stouts.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured a dark brown color from the can with aromas of chocolate, nuts, licorice, and some earth. Flavors match the aromas, not overly chocolaty, balanced, and solid.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rich deep brown coloured body (no surprise, eh?) with a very thin, just oily layer of brown atop the beer. Aroma of alcohol, pecans, walnuts and not much else - some darker (~60% cacao) chocolate and hints of alcohol are also barely perceptible. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich, creamy, malty and assertive brandy flavours at the forefront with a lot of sweetness from prunes, cream, cherries and caramelised malts all showing around the flavour. Aftertaste is a bit more rounded and acute with the cream and chocolate flavours the strongest, but not a light beer at all. Overall, a strong and robust sweet tout, which is exactly what this is -not a baltic or foreign by any means - just a typical sweet stout that is trying to be melded into something else. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whip-In in Austin, Texas on 05-May-2014 for US$2,69 sampled at home in Washington on 11-August-2014.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a solid black with a short brow head and lacing. It has a nice dark malt and chocolate aroma, and a flavor that is rich malt up front with a chocolate-coffee backbone and sweet, smooth finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
An average stout type beer. Really drinks more like a porter than a stout. Notes of chocolate, spice, and yeast on the nose, all following onto the palate. Somewhat of a light body, and thin.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. can. Pours a medium, tiny bubbled, well retained, light beige head, with spare lacing over a clear, ruby brown (SRM 30) body....nose is roasted malts with cocoa, chocolate tones, lighter coffee, minimal fruit notes, no esters, mild hop aroma....taste is almost dry, with cocoa, chocolate, heavier coffee from the roasted malts, no fruit note, minimal esters, finishing slightly bitter, with hints of coffee type sourness.....mouth feel, medium body, mild alcohol, light astringency, carbonation makes for light acid and a creamy mouthful. This comes closer to being a "Stout Porter" perhaps Robust Porter than a Baltic Porter. It lacks the fruit richness from the malt backbone along with the quite apparent sweetness of a Baltic. Upping the complexity of the malt bill, and changing to European hops would make it a Baltic. However if it were labeled a Robust Porter those changes wouild not be necessary. BJCP 7/3/12/5/6
