It’s no secret, at DEBC, we’re fond of hops. Citrusy, piney, floral, and fruity hops are at least a third of this whole adventure. Hops may be the current ruler of the craft beer scene, and we, for one, welcome our resinous, spicy, bitter overlords. We’ve taken the IPA category to its Event Horizon, and pulled back just enough to see the edge. Get the big picture, it’s hoppy! Hops - Summit, Columbus, Apollo, Liberty, and more! Malts - Pale ale, Vienna, Honey (NB previous versions contained rye) Yeast - English Ale Other - Raw cane sugar

Temple, Tx - Spec’s Liquor - 12 oz can - very hazy dark orange pour, soft, silky white head that leaves a nice film of lacing. Aroma is overly sweet, but not unpleasant, hints of rising bread, a touch of brown sugar. Flavor leans to the sweet side of the spectrum for a DIPA candied orange slices come to mind, raw cake mix sweetness, some honey notes in the finish. Solidly thick mouthfeel.

Can. Pours reddish orange with a good head and nice lacing. Orange marmalade, alcohol, and herbal aromas. Flavor is sticky orange peel and caramel, big flavors with a big finish. Finishes bright with some alcohol heat.

12-oz can. Thanks, N! Pours a cloudy medium amber with a loose white head. Bright tangy hop nose, nice grapefruit and citric acid combo, also some pepperiness from the grains. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Bright grapefruit tang on the mid palate, also peppery malt notes. Dry finish. Freshness must really matter with this one; it was quite good.

Tap at the source. Pours deep orange, minnal white head. Light ring of lacing. Aroma is orange, tangerine, pine, really sweet citrus and some sugary sweetness. Flavor is dank, pine, hops, citrus. Not bad. Flavor is a bit too dank (not my kinda dank though). Solid beer nonetheless.

Fruity, grassy, too much in the caramel malt department, and it has an Englishy yeast character I’m not fond of as well. $2 sample at brewery.

Nice varied aromas of floral, pineapple, citrus, and grassy malts with with a strong caramel malt presence. Mid to deep slightly hazy orange body, the cap is off whit, a bit frothy and leaves some fairly heavy lacing. Flavor is the hops but the caramel malts really tone this down, although there is a decent bitterness throughout.

Aroma - floral, herb, pine, and slight citrus hops. Caramel malt. Appearance - the body is a hazy dark amber, with good nucleation. The head is 2+" and off-white. Wispy and whipped lacing. Taste - herbaceous, floral, and pine hops. The malt is of a caramel nature. Palate - medium body, slightly oily texture, the carbonation is average, the finish is slightly bitter.
