It’s no secret, at DEBC, we’re fond of hops. Citrusy, piney, floral, and fruity hops are at least a third of this whole adventure. Hops may be the current ruler of the craft beer scene, and we, for one, welcome our resinous, spicy, bitter overlords. We’ve taken the IPA category to its Event Horizon, and pulled back just enough to see the edge. Get the big picture, it’s hoppy! Hops - Summit, Columbus, Apollo, Liberty, and more! Malts - Pale ale, Rye, Vienna, Honey Yeast - English Ale Other - Raw cane sugar

On tap. Pours with a clear golden hued body with a small white head. Aromas are dank, citrusy, spicy, herbal. A little bit of sweet marmalade, a touch sticky and boozy. Flavors are sweet, a bit boozy, floral, pine and sticky resins. A touch fusel. Earthy hop character, a touch spicy, pine. Lively carbonation but a sticky mouthfeel.

Can shared in NYC. Pours clear deep gold with a creamy head. The nose has some fusel notes, orange. Medium sweet flavor with sugary bread, grain, herb, pine. Full bodied with average carbonation. Resinous finish, some grassy bitterness, lightly toasted bread and grains, dank citrus fruits. Not bad.

12oz can in a tulip. Pours deep amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of some floral and lightly piney hops, a lot of caramel malts, light rye, and some dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. All these other breweries need to learn from breweries in New England how to make hoppy beers. This ain’t good.

Thanks to crajun for the trade. Pours hazy gold with an off- white head. Aroma of citrus and pine and juicy malt. The flavor is on the sweet side with plenty of body. Not overly sweet like some of the double IPAs but it leans in that direction.

12 oz Can. Tasted on 11/17/14. Beer from Total Wine Lewisville, TX. Pours to a dark golden color with a medium light tan head. Good lacing on it with an aroma that has notes of pine, resin & some rye. The taste is well balanced with an almost earthy note with strong malt that offsets the hops & seems to work pretty well. The overall flavor good & reminds me of Modus Hoperandi by Ska. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A bit too boozy but if you can get past it there are some awesome chocolate tones, plus citrus undercurrents. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From can. Nose and appearance are near perfect. Fruit and grass and a slightly cloudy copper pour. Suspiciously smooth beginning--almost like juice, then turning crisp and bitter at the end. Solid.

Can @ home. Clear amber pour, full white - finely bubbled - head. Taste ripe summer fruits; blackberry, juniper, herbs, rosemary. Rye weighing in with sweet-sour hints. A bit stewed, but nice. Especially with venison or game.

I had really high hopes for this being such a big fan of their IPA, but this fell short several ways for me. I like rye, but this...something’s off.
