Our year round ode to the Pacific Northwest hop. At DEBC, we like hops, but we like American hops most of all. Here we use some of our absolute favorites. However, they might not be used like you may expect, by using varieties with high alpha acid contents (which means more potential for bitterness) and using them in ways to emphasize the flavor and aroma we can render a rather bitter ale with over the top tropical fruit, citrus, pine, floral, and more hop derived aroma and flavor. Style: American-style India Pale Ale Hops: Citra, Amarillo, Chinook, Palisade, and Summit Malts: Pale Ale, Vienna, Honey, and White Wheat Yeast: English Ale

Can from Eric. Pours a hazy golden with thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is piney, herbal, odd citrus something going on. Taste is a little too malty for my IPA taste. Some orange rind, zest and pith. Not horrible but doesn’t really jump out as a very hoppy IPA. Not overly bitter or sweet.

Can thanks to a trade! Pours a near clear amber orange with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of onion, weed and pine with a backing sweet grain note. Flavor starts with bitter pine and weed with a touch of earthy grains.

12 fl oz can. Courtesy of deyholla.
Hazy amber colour with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma with moderate bitterness. Balanced. Resin, fruits, moderate bitterness and some malty sweetness in the flavour. Bitterness in the aftertaste. Very balanced IPA.

On the fuller side of medium bodied, juicy, crisp and bitter…Very clean, Very drinkable...A bit hazy/dark and orange, rather than copper in color...but, just an outstanding American IPA all around… pretty much nailed it with this one...VERY refreshing and will get again and...…Goin’ to look for a tap ASAP!!!...Chasin’ Cheers :~)

12 oz can. Clear brown orange with a puffy white head. Nose is orange, lemon and toffee; nothing fancy. Medium body with foamy carb. Taste is orange, pine, melon and toffee. Good balance, nice IPA.

Exactly what I'm after in an American IPA - on tap at a dallas restaurant. Bright copper color, thick head and nice, sticky lacing. Complex layered flavors, with a crispness all around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the Flying Saucer This was enjoyed at a local bar in Ft Worth. The bartender Homer recomended the Deep Ellum IPA. The ale poured a cloudy light amber with a medium off-white head that slowly dissipated. Some lacing down the glass. This is well brewed ale. Some hops and malt on the nose. This is a medium bodied ale with flavors of resiny hops, The carbonation was average. The finish was smooth with some bitterness on the tongue. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nasty looking light amber brew. Had what looked like bacteria strands but soon realized this was the sediment from the bottom of the can. It did even out to leave it just looking cloudy. Can conditioned??? Anyways the aroma is citrus with some pine hints. The taste is a pine with some citrus and floral notes, slightly metalic. Feels very dry going down and gritty on the tongue. Has all the makings for a great IPA but just didn’t make it there. Probably would have been better in a bottle. (side note: didn’t pour the whole can into second glass and beer did look better, just have to watch for the bottom sediment)
