bottle - was hesitant to but due to price and not being all too familiar with brewery. pleasant surprise. plenty going on and on the positive side of things - plumbs? raisins? sure. bitterness? yup. bonus points for helping me go to sleep early on a flyday night.

Beerenberger (1447) - Fischer, Texas, USA - JUN 12, 2014
Sweeet cherries, toffee, and brown sugar notes meet the nose while a light and slightly hazy plum pour sustains a thin white ring and no lacing. The palate is overall sweet, but there is a welcomed bitter finish. Dark sweet cherries, brown sugar, toffee, wood, hints of molasses and bitterness. Light body and moderate carbonation. Overall, while softly sweet this was an enjoyable barley wine.

Pours a nice brown color with almost tan head. Dark fruit, whiskey, and sweetness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes sweet. Im not usually a fan of barleywines, but they did a pretty darn good job with this one.

On tap at Avery Strong Ale Fest poured a hazy reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel and light fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bourbon, caramel, oak, spice and earthiness with a smooth dry lingering earthy finish.

Tasted at a bottle share in a hotel room after the most recent Jackie-Os bottle release. Mostly clear red orange color. Thin off-white head. Couple bits of lace. Lots of caramel, dark fruit in the nose. Bigger body. Smooth, lightly soft, lighter carbonation. Tropical fruity hop notes. Moderate sweet taste, light bit of tartness. Light bit of spiciness. Alright barley wine, for me. I dont care for them being this tropical fruity.

Bottle shared by the Dayton crew at the Jackie-Os release hotel bottle share. Thanks! Pours a cloudy amber color with a small off white head. Notes of brown sugar, raisins, dates, cake, and toffee. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, malty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Good beer, but very sweet.

Tap at world of beer. The look is clear, beige head, and amber in color. The smell is deep, fruit, wood, whiskey, and nice. The taste is sweet, fruits, hops, caramel, and good.
