On tap at Avery Strong Ale Fest poured a hazy reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel and light fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bourbon, caramel, oak, spice and earthiness with a smooth dry lingering earthy finish.

Bottle shared by the Dayton crew at the Jackie-Os release hotel bottle share. Thanks! Pours a cloudy amber color with a small off white head. Notes of brown sugar, raisins, dates, cake, and toffee. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, malty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Good beer, but very sweet.

Tasted at a bottle share in a hotel room after the most recent Jackie-Os bottle release. Mostly clear red orange color. Thin off-white head. Couple bits of lace. Lots of caramel, dark fruit in the nose. Bigger body. Smooth, lightly soft, lighter carbonation. Tropical fruity hop notes. Moderate sweet taste, light bit of tartness. Light bit of spiciness. Alright barley wine, for me. I dont care for them being this tropical fruity.

On tap at Jack Macs. Brown with a tan head. The aroma is full of brown sugar and caramel malt. The flavor is more complex. I get a lot of sweet brown sugar and caramel malt up front. As the beer warms the oak and rye whiskey notes come through lightly, along with some resinous pine character. Fairly sweet overall. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice.

Tap at Craft & Growler. Pours a murky maroonish red-brown color with a light beige head. Aroma is wood, must, dark fruit and raisins with a heavy malt smell. Flavor is fairly nice, a little hot, woody, malty and sweet with a hot, bitter finish. Needs age big time. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
