Sticke-style Altbier brewed using heated stones. We rock it old school. How old school? Try the stone age. Steinbier brewing not only predates the invention of the thermometer, but goes so far back that there was no material available for fashioning brewing vessels that would not ignite when brought to flame. So the heat was brought from the fire with stones. Knowing how many and of what size to add and when was much of the early brewers’ alchemy. But with progress we lost the smoky caramelized character brought by those wood fired rocks of old, but no more. We’ve added crazy hot granite to our Dusseldorf-style Sticke Altbier just to make it rock that much harder. Style: Sticke Altbier Hops: Magnum, Northern Brewer, Mt. Hood Malts: Pilsner, Light Munich, Dark Munich, Extra Dark, Crystal, Smoked, Dehusked Chocolate Yeast: California Lager

Reddish amber pour. Nice subtle smokiness and great caramel flavor. Well rounded maltiness and medium bodied.

Poured a pretty garnet colour. Medium head. Nice roasted flavors. Will definitely have another.

Murky amber color. The head is frothy and.thick and lasts a long time. The aroma is light smoke and a little spice making it somewhat bitter and sharp. The flavor is smoky and quite bitter. Only the finish has a little sweetness but is still overwhelmingly long and bitter. Not what you’d expect in an Oktoberfest so you maltheads stay away.

deep hazy amber pour with a cream head. nose is rich smoked malts, dough, grainy, and earthy. nice on the palate, smooth smoked malt flavor, earth, a little bitter in the finish.

Tap @ Hay Merchant. A little smoky, a little sweet, a little spicy. Great balance and finishes on a nice bitter note. This does indeed rock!

On tap @ Moth. Ruddy amber brew with some off-white head. Nose is big time malts with some earthy hops - bread, caramel, and some light smoke. Flavor has a good amount of sweetness but goes down smooth, especially for the ABV.

Nose is grassy first with the malts hiding behind with a little yeasty cider. Almost cider like. With malt and hops. Good balence of yeast. Higher hops make this more interesting. A good beer. ---That dog will hunt!

Pours murky amber with creamy beige head. Aroma has hints of banana, yeast, caramel, malt, some earthiness. Flavor of rich malt, earthy, fruity esters, moderately sweet, hints of smoke, earthy bitter Finnish. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy body, creamy, with medium carbonation. Overall, not bad.

(Draught) Pours a cloudy maize body with a medium cream head. Aroma of citrus, banana, caramel, light sulfur, and earth. Flavor of earth, grass, banana, rye, and subtle sulfur.
