We’ve had better stouts, but this one’s not bad at all. Probably wouldn’t buy this but certainly would accept it from a friend...or an enemy.

A decent chocolate stout. Pours a deep brown with a tan head. Smells of chocolate. Taste is very chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Had on tap at the Lighthouse Beer and Wine Festival in Wilminton, NC.

Sweet and chocolaty. A little bitter. Slight head and minor cascading. Not a beer with a lot of depth. But was enjoyable stout and probably the best one coming out of Deep River at moment.

Drank from a tap in a pint glass at Mellow Mushroom in Raleigh. Pours black! Nice light brown head that stays for the ride. Aromas of cocoa. Taste is a bit to sweet for my liking but the chocolatiness is perfect!! Good Brew!!

Tap @ The Phoenix, Brevard, NC - pours pitch, tan head. Aroma is sweet milk chocolate with some almond and coconut notes. Taste is sweet, medium weight. Reminds me of an almond joy vaguely.

This beer pours nearly black with a dark tan head. Aroma is all chocolate. Very very chocolate tasting. Like a candy bar! There is a minor amount of caramel and malt, but not much. Its chocolate through and through. Some say its to a fault.. but how can you go wrong with chocolate?? Its a winner in my book. As long as you like it that is. Hyper chocolate!!

This is the best stout I’ve had in a long time. I actually crave it. I don’t find it bitter at all, very good chocolate flavor. On draft @ Brew Masters Pub in downtown Raleigh.

On tap at Olde Hickory. Pours a black color with off white head. Very chocolatey flavor with some roasty, malty sweetness. Alright.

Draft at Olde Hickory taproom. Pours clear, red-brown with a creamy beige head. Ripened dark fruits in the aroma, toasted brown bread and hints of chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with artificial chocolate, berries, sugar, light coffee. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lingering fake chocolate character, sugar syrup, caramel. A bit saccharin and insincere.

On tap @ Olde Hickory. Pours a hazy dark reddish appearance with a tan head. Some dark fruits in the nose. Caramel and brown sugar and chocolate also. Moderately to highly sweet. Tons of cocoa. A touch of earth and vanilla. Maybe a little too sweet but not horrible.
