Deep River Brewing Company’s Riverbank Rye-It IPA is a amber pale ale, with subtle hints of rye and citrus. The spicy notes imparted by the rye thread together nicely with the citrusy aromas of Columbus hops.

Sample at the Inventory Reduction Beer Tasting on 08/08/2015. Pours a clear amber-orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, rye and hops. Light to medium body with flavors of spiced hops, citrus and rye malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

16 ounce can from Beer Study, 4/1/15. Clear dark amber, medium sized fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of strong rye, caramel, coffee, earthy notes. That was un-expected. The taste is bitter, strong rye, citrus, coffee, caramel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Solid beer, a little different, nice surprise.

Pint can. Pretty tasty- suprised at the rating. Pours a deep amber with an adequate off white head and nice lacing. Nicely balanced with the caramel malts and columbus hops that add bitterness without being overly dank/ overpowering. The rye adds a decent spicy note and Belgian yeast adds interest and general, well, yeastiness. Nice citrus/ pine notes and hints of grass. Finishes somewhat bitter, could almost say astringent. Decent and different.

Aroma. Like bread coming from the oven. A bit of spice. Appearance, Deep clear amber. Medium head with ample lacing. Taste. This beer starts with a backbone of maltiness. This lingers until the unmistakable taste of rye. Nice bitter spice flavor. Body. Great medium body with a soft mouthfeel. Overall a good example of the type.

Sampled at Hickory Hops 2014. Amber, orange colored with a ring of foam. Crisp, clean, lightly citrus aroma. Nice woody hops and a dry finish. Pretty standard Rye pale, which is fine, I like standard rye pales

Can from Sam’s Quik shop. Pours grown with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Leaves lots of lacing in the glass. A little bit of rye on the nose. There’s rye and citrus hop notes on the tongue, though faint, and they do not play well with one another. Whoever thought this was a good idea should be kicked in the balls.

Draft. Hard to execute on a hoppy aroma amber with rye. Not sure you can actually. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
