Cask gravity at Reading BF 2010. Black, lasting thin tan head. Lovely thick choc, roasted malt aroma, almost impy stout like. Touch of smoke I thought. Really good stout. Bit of powder, lovely stout. Touch of lactic flavour on swallow. Good stout.

Bottle on the train from Edinburgh (thanks to an IP trade with Craig Garvie) - 08/12/12. Mid black with a thin tan head that escapes to the edge and leaves a film. Nose is dark roast malt, touch of chocolate, dark toffee notes, dark sugars. Taste comprises roast malts, liqourice, mineral tones, pinch of chcocolate, touch of molasses. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a dry finish. Decent.

2010-08-01. Black body with a small foamy beige head. 3+ Dusty roast in the aroma with mocha accents. 6+ Flavour is milder than expected, mild sweet malt base but the dry roasty bitterness grows exponentially towards the finish, leaving a dry roasty character to linger in the finish and aftertaste. 6+ Smooth average palate is pretty good for a cask but thin for the beer itself. Pretty good but the roast character is not entirely to my tastes. Cask at Market Porter, London

Scopey (7452) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 17, 2011
Cask at 2011 Deeside Beer Festival. It pours jet black with a thin foamy tan head and soft carbonation. The nose is smokey bacon, bonfire, dark chocolate, sesame seed and perhaps a little soy sauce. The taste is smoke, charcoal, sesame seed, soy sauce, liquorice, bitter chocolate and a little caramel, with a surprisingly bitter finish. Good quality stout but, which is perhaps a bit too thin to handle the bitterness.

[3229-20100801] Cask. Thick burnt roast malt aroma with some hints of bandaid. Black body with a long-lasting foamy tan head. Watery coffee grounds flavour is almost gritty with a mild bitter aftertaste. Medium-full body. Drinkable.
