This beer tastes like it’s trying to be too many things at once and not good at any of them. It’s not bitter enough, not malty enough, not flavorful enough.....multiple yeast strains make it a bit funky. It’s very drinkable, but that doesn’t exactly make it enjoyable. Have no idea why this one got bottled, when Defiant brews many draft only offerings that are better than this...

20110327 750ml bottle from JC Buy Rite. Medium amber, frothy white head. Aroma is vegetal, peppery, soggy grain. Soapy, acidic, wheaty (like soaked red wheat). finishes cabbagey. Blech.

Bottle split with ben4321 before day of tailgating. This was easily the best beer of the day compared to the BLS being provided.

For my 1000 rating, yay, i choose this beer that was given to me as a Christmas present. The aroma was very strong of alcohol and a bit of citrus. The taste was initially some grape but the hops and alcohol took over. It was a little difficult to drink. A very good but slow drinking beer.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 10/30/10

Aroma: Nose has herbal hops, fruity notes, some floral notes, malts, and a little wood
Appearance: Sort of a dark golden-orange color with a large, fluffy white head
Flavor: The taste is sort of mineral/herbal, some malty flavors, and lemony/fruity notes
Palate: It has a sort of strange, but not necessarily off-putting mouthfeel to it
Overall Impression: I’m a big believer that it is always a good idea to kick-off a tailgate with atleast one "good" beer. If you are going to be drinking pale water from a can for the rest of the day, at least you got to try one thing with some flavor and color to it. Anyway, this was our kick-off to a day of tailgating, and it was solid stuff. It is a nice attempt at an English-style pale ale.

Hazed orange pour with white head and lace. Sour apple aroma with some earthy hops. Pungent apple, with a decent resiny bitter. Medium bodied and fizzy.

Poured from big bottle purchased from Defiant brewery. Floral hops in aroma. Clear bronze, thin head persists. Well hopped with floral and grapefruit notes. Borders on being an IPA. Oatmeal like base. Fairly well carbonated - hops and bubbles dance on tongue. Beer got cloudy when I poured the last bit, which mellowed the flavor a bit and gave it a nice finish. A fine ale by Defiant.

750 ml bottle @PreJam Gathering-pours a dissipating white head and gold color. Aroma is light/medium fruit, light malt. Taste is light/medium fruit, light malt, wood/earthy hops, yeast. Drying finish.

Nice orange color topped by a thin white head. Fruity nose, at first made me tought of Amarillo hops, but evolving towards something more organic, mineral, grainy, almost grassy/herbal. Malty on the palate at first, lemon zest, nicely balanced , finishing on a grapefruit bitterness note. It’s a bit of a strange finish, kind of a weird mix of tastes. But I enjoyed it...

Yellow-orange, whitish head. Aroma is very fruity, pear, light, crisp. Taste is light lemony, almost tart, pear, crisp, woody bitter finish.
