COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gentle and warming, this rich mahogony ale is filled with moments of fig and raisin. Brewed with an international blend of barlies, thid brew is warming and complex without being over spiced or over powering. Enjoy before its gone.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 12/9/10

Aroma: The nose has some brown sugar, dark red fruits, a little orange, and holiday spices
Appearance: Pours a dark reddish-brown with a half finger of fluffy beige head and some lace
Flavor: The flavor is like the nose, it had lots of spicy and dark malt flavors
Palate: A medium bodied brew with slight warming feeling and fairly soft carbonation
Overall Impression: This is a decent winter beer. It has a good amount of spice to it, and it’s kind of warm on the mouth, surprisingly so for a beer that’s only 7.5%. Anyway, decent stuff.

Bottle from Rockland Beverage split with Tommy on Christmas. Pours a deep reddish brown with a light caramel hue and small to medium beige head. Aroma is immediate red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar, with some spicy notes. Smells nice. Palate is a mix of spice, vegetable, dried fruit and malt. Earthy character to it. I wish it were a little more balanced or carbonated. Medium to heavy mouthfeel.

Taste of caramel, brownish/black color, brown foam, hazy body. Medium sweetness, lightly bitter. Full body, creamy, very soft carbonation.

Tap at Blind Tiger. A lot of unrealized potential here. Poured jet black with no head. None. Decently rich aroma of dark fruits and malts and holiday spices. Flavor was sweet and rife with figs and raisins. Some licorice in there too. Medium in body with a syrupy mouthfeel. Almost no carbonation. Somewhat sticky on the finish with a pleasant, sweet aftertaste.

On tap at Blind Tiger. Pours a cloudy caramel brown with a tan head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar. Flavor of sweet oatmeal, brown sugar, with some sourness in the finish. Kind of odd tasting. This is ok but I don’t think I’d get it again.

on tap at Defiant. Dark browin in color. Medium sized head. Aroma is malty, with spice and light notes of fruit. Taste is moderately sweet with raisin, citrus, dark malts and spices. Medium bodied. Has that defiant yeasty "house" character.

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with tan head. Nose and taste of caramel sauce, toffee candy, mashed up figs, dark chocolate, nuts and spicy earth malt. Medium body.

Bottle. Blak pour with some tan lacing. Dark fruit and some sweetness in aroma, hints of spice tones. Flavor doesn’t follow, some cardboard malt and hints of fruit and spice. Too much age?

Brown without much head. The aroma is orange and coriander. Flavor I’d pretty much the same as in not much going on.

This hazy brown pour has sour notes in the aroma. It turns out it is the sweet tart flavors of figs. Not bad but not what I expected from a Christmas Ale.
