PilsnerPeter (1322), Flushing, New York, USA May 16, 2008 Cask at Mugs Ale House: Pours a hazy amber with a dense/strong creamy white head. The body is light and fluffy. The aroma is extremely perfumy and citric. Tart orange and acidic notes. The flavor is the same, with an overall citric acidity and lots of orange juice notes. Stuff isn’t bad, it’s just a bit perfumy and seems artificial in a way. The citric acidity is a bit weird as well, at least for the style. hophead75 (1620), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Apr 27, 2008 TAP NY 08. Lighty hazy amber in color with a small off white head. Aroma is a nice mix of floral and light citrus and english malt. Taste is very nice, and rather assertive with a strong floral hop presence with some light citrus, alot of english, and toasted/biscuity malts- medium bodied, assertive bitter finish. Really good ESB. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Nov 23, 2006 On Cask at the Brazen Head, Brooklyn...This beer is surprisingly spicy and yet very mild. It is bitter, but not too tar. The citrus flavors and malts blend well together. It is very floral, cellared and musty. It makes me feel like I’m drinking something from 100’s of years ago. Maybe this beer is truly "authentic" for the style. jimmack (1209), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2006 On tap at brewery. Golden/amber color with a good sized off white head. Nice hoppy aroma with some biscuit malt and a bit of wet hay. Flavor was only mildly bitter, with the hops being nicely balanced by the doughy malt and a bit of caramel. Extremely easy drinking, with a nice clean finish. ruffian (148), montvale, New Jersey, USA Sep 26, 2006 The brewers description is pretty accurate.
Amber, with just a hint of orange depth in the color. Hop aroma is very earthly, english like, without being ’dirty’. The rich complexity of the malt is accentuated by the hops, with neither dominating the flavor. It has a good medium body, not watery nor to thick.
