Dickinsonbeer (2466), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 9, 2007 Sample off of Hopheads grolwer. Pours a hazy light amber/ coppery with a diminishing white head. Aroma is funky, and infected with something- either some brett or pedio- decent lactic character- some grape must, and a touch of acetobacter. While I kinda liked the funky infected arouma ( when cold it was nice, as it warmed it was kinda crappy), but the flavor was dull. Light cookie dough, herbal hops, light belgian yeast, dough, and an astringent finish. hophead75 (1620), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Jun 9, 2007 sampled on tap at the brewery and took out a growler. Hazy light orange in color. Aroma: Tart fruit- white grapes and notes of possible brett. Also some musty belgian yeast and light spice. Aroma is really nice. Taste I didn’t enjoy quite as much as the aroma. Taste has just about the same characteristics as the aroma- a moderate amount of white grape flavor, minus the tart and light funkyness. A little bit sugary , and becomes a bit muddled near the finish with a moderate hop bittering finish. Has some similarities to Captain Lawrence’s Cuvee De Castleton, but nowhere near as flavorful, tart and refined.
