Aroma is a bit hard to describe, maybe alcoholic, with a bit of plum. but the coloring is your typical dark brown with almost no lacing or head. There was none of the chocolate or espresso flavors I’ve come to expect from the style, and the mouthfeel was a bit watery, yet this was still a flavorful dark brew I’d try again.

Hand bottle for lou18. Small head, dark brown pour. Abit on the bitter side, burnt chocolate, smoke, finished abit bitter sweet. I enjoyed it, interesting flavor.

On tap at the brewery. Dark brown, with small off white head. Nose was lots of peat, smoke, caramel. There is smoke in the taste, not as much as the nose. This was nice as is all Defiant brews.

on tap at defiant. Brown, almost black in color with a small tan head. Aroma is smoke, chocolate, light vanilla, and that "defiant" character which I really can’t put a finger on. Taste is moderately smoky, some astringent black patent or light roast, with some chocolate, and light vanilla in the taste. Finishes astringent and lightly bitter.
