Another stellar offering from Defiant. If you are in the area, definitely get your ass onto one of those bar stools. How do you beat $3.25 beers that are brewed within arms distance? Amazing. Nice and dark, bit of a bite, but still goes down smooth as anything.

On tap at the Mason Jar, where it was called Defiant Dark Lager. A very drinkable brew, well balanced with some malty sweetness. It went well with a barbeque dinner.

Amber with thin head but lacing still left on the side of the glass. Hint of toasty malt nose. Crisp flavor, a bit dry (hop flavor). A bit cloying finish.

Draft poured into a weizen glass at Taproom 307 w Andy, Streets, James. Pours a very dark amber with big, frothy white head that leaves stringy, patchy lacing. Smells like wheat and over-the-top yeast. Tastes beady and dry with a very bready, cakey aftertaste. Kind of putrid. I could probably drink it again, but would not order more than one.

on tap-pours a light tan head and amber color. Aroma is spice, nutty, medium malt-toast. Taste is spice hops, nutty, medium malt-toast/roasty. Slight drying at finish.

At the brewery with brendan and pj. Malty ale, sweet and soft caramel flavor. Nice marketable session beer.

Pours a light caramel copper. White lacy thin head. Not much aroma. Malty taste with some hops watery.

Draft in williamsburg. Great bourbon orange body with gray head. Hoppy-honey body. smoky lager, oak body. interesting

Poured from growler purchased at brewery. Very heady aroma of I’m not sure what. Pours a big tan head that calms down after a while. Opaque mahogany. Caramel, nut, wood, ginger, veggie in flavor. Slightly off aftertaste, but very drinkable. Pretty good.

On tap... somewhere. Poured into a pint glass. Dark clear color, like a nut brown ale but lighter. Nice molasses smell. No head at all and no lacing. Clean, dry mouthfeel with rather little body, but that’s not bad at all; makes it easy to drink. Tastes smokey with molasses, toffee, and a slight sour undertone. Excellent beer. I really like dark lagers and I’m glad to have tried this one. Perfect session beer; I wish I could get it easier!

Aroma: The nose is mostly toasted and cereal malts
Appearance: Pours a hazy, dark reddish color with a fluffy head
Flavor: The flavor is pretty good, a nice cereal/grain feel to it with just a touch of hops
Palate: The body drinks really nicely, with a solid mouthfeel
Overall Impression:
Overall, I thought this was a pretty good beer. A nice looking amber beer with a good flavor and a nice mouthfeel. Solid and enjoyable. I liked both of the Defiant beers that I tried at the festival.
