HoppityHop (87), USA Apr 12, 2007 Right out of the tank at the brewery, this pours nearly black with not much of a head. Wow, this smells roasty. Almost like a hickory BBQ, if you can believe it? Taste is more of the same, as it is very smokey and has a pronounced woody, almost earthy flavoring. Crispy and sharp, but not as bitter as you might expect. Mouthfeel, while slightly light for a stout is very nice and very drinkable. Nice carbonation makes this a really a good sessionable stout. DocLock (4170), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2007 Thanks to Lou18 for a corked 750 of this via Mystery Swap 2.0. Deep blackish pour with 1-finger, creamy tan head. Aroma of big roasty dark malts, chocoff, some hops, and molasses. The palate is medium to dense in heft, notably complex, with flavors of roasty dark malt, chocoff, on the dry side, with some finishing hops. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Mar 9, 2007 Updated: Apr 5, 2007On tap at the brewery, so new there was no sign name up or anything. Pour was Thick and dark, with hints of red, and a thick head that stays some,Sweet fresh baked bread nose, with a bit of hop, well hidden hints of chocolate and coffee Taste was pretty light on mouth feel for a stout which makes this refreshing with a touch of sweetness. This will be an easy drinking session brew for the holiday.
