Pours a deep dark brown and a thin foamy tan head. Aroma is moslty chocolate and a bit yeasty. Moderatley sweet flavor, some dark chocolate bitterness, more dirty yeast, doughy, and bready, with a drying lightly acrid finish and low bitterness. Ok.

Location: Sampled at the NY Brewfest on Governor’s Island, 6/19/10

Aroma: The nose has some chocolate, roasted/dark malts, and some caramel
Appearance: Pours a solid brown color with a creamy tan head
Flavor: This is a medium sweet porter with a bit of a hop kick in the finish
Palate: The body is almost creamy, but with more carbonation then a normal creamy porter
Overall Impression: This one tastes pretty good. It has a pretty good fell to it, and it drinks pretty nicely. My first beer from Defiant Brewing Company, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I would drink this one again.

On tap. Birdsall House. Peekskill NY. Dark thick creamy pour with a tan fluffy head. Roasty chocholet mouth with a Burnt bitter pallet. Go for it!

Draft. Pours a dark brune body with an off white head. Chocolate malts, light brittle minerals, light roasted malt tones. Licorice with a light vanilla but the finish is drier like roasted malt. Decent porter.

A mild porter, easy drinking, nothing over the top in the flavor profile. Dark with thin head. If you’re looking for a brew with a bit more flavor but not overly hoppy or roasty, this is a good choice. I prefer a bit more bite in my porters but this worked well as a starter for me the night I enjoyed it.

Poured from growler filled at Defiant brewery. Faint aroma of coffee and molasses. Solid black, tan head. Nice nut/wood flavor, with hints of cocoa. Bitter aftertaste, which I like. Has a slight creaminess to it. Lacing too. Good finish. Well Done.

Tap at barcade. Poured a thinnish brown. Nose was sweet. Sort of like a flat cola. Thin mouthful fairly sweet. Finish had some nice malt flavor, but this one missed the mark for me.

Dry, very toasty aroma, lightly burnt coffee. Flavor is disappointing, thinnish and lactic, uninspired. Light finish. Milky. Weak.

What a great porter. Had no idea that Defiant was waiting to be discovered right under my nose all this time. I will return soon, no doubt. Porter was very dark, but tasted much lighter and smoother than expected.

Cask at Spuyten Duyvil. Poured an opaque black color. The head was thick and tan with good retention and lacing. Smelled of chocolate with light grass and roasty notes. Medium bodied and slightly tart with delicate sweetness. Roasty malt, odd fruitiness (almost like tart cherry), and a bit of chocolate came out in the flavor. Looked good, decent aroma, but fell flat on its face when I tasted it.
