33cl bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Huge soapy off-white head on top of a hazy a bit murky reddish brown color. Smell and taste lightly malts, sourness, sour fruitpeel. Balanced taste though, but too much carbonation.

Commissioned ale for brasserie Demervallei, with rocky, yellowish beige, sticky head and dark mahogany colour with rusty hue, hazy with vivid sparkling. Pretty strong, estery aroma, pear syrup, candied dates, grassy hops, liquorice, orange peel, coriander, soap, banana. Candi sweetness and candied fruits in the onset, smooth but rather thin mouthfeel compared to its strength, peppery and nutty accents on a caramelly base, flowery hops in the finish, where some of the candi and liquorice sweetness also linger - perhaps just a tad too much.

Een enorm lekker donker bier. Net als de blonde hiervan, een echte aanrader om eens te proberen.

Bottle 33 cl from Willems - Grobbendonk (B). Dark reddish beer, very mossy and sticking to the glass, fine crackling and numerous floats. Fruity malted aroma, fruity acidulity, toffy, grassy hop. The taste is mossy, red fruits, soft but acidulated, we taste licorice, coffee also but less, hints of yeast, cherry, spices and bitter herbs. Balanced beer, well made, the flavors are blended, it’s not heavy, but interesting and pleasant despite the alcoholic strength. Curious belgian anyway.
