A fine, refreshing and accessible gueuze that’s more classy than funky. 75 cL bottle pours a semi-hazy muddy orange color, decent off-white. Nose is lemony, with notes of must and herbs. Not that barny to me. Taste is moderately tart and lemony with a light, reasonably acidic bitterness and musty, earthy backdrop. Light, spritzy and dry. Looked handsome in a champagne flute and made a nice aperitif paired with some goat cheese.

Jun 4, 2008 37.5 cl. bottle; corked and caged. Orange tinged gold color with a multifinger off-white head. Smells like funk and citrus. It is quite lactic, has funk, and is acidicly citrus. Puckers the mouth a bit. Body is near medium with prickly carbonation. Could be a touch of that oak vessel in the finish.

Apr 30, 2008 Bottle at home - bought in Brussels. Cloudy straw yellow - white head. LIght sourness, barnyard, fruity, sweetness, sugar, lemon, grape, light acid, soft bobbles, light carbonated. Nice.

Mar 5, 2008 Bottle... Hazy golden ale with a mid-sized, fluffy, white head... diminishes slowly to an everlasting, small, creamy white head. The aroma is “everything barnyard” with an additional note of sharp cheese. Medium-bodied and very creamy with lively carbonation. Too sweet and well-rounded for the style. It’s missing the heavy acidity and rough-around-the-edges characteristics that I normally enjoy most about this style of beer. Moderately sweet, bitter and acidic... too much balance for me. Lengthy tart and bitter finish. A shout goes out to ygtbsm94 for floating this one across the pond for me to try!
bager (1820), Copenhagen N, Denmark
Feb 13, 2008 Bottled. Hazy deep golden coloured with a rather small fizzy head. Very nicely balanced with notes of barnyard, citrus and vinegar. Kinda smooth.
