COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Manana is a Mexican-style amber lager (cerveza oscura). The malty, bold flavor of this beer recalls the European roots of Mexico’s great brewing history. Smooth and rich, Manana is superb, whether enjoyed alone or with your favorite Mexican food.

Crushed with Jakebra. Smells like caramel malt and the floor of the Lakefront Brewery. Flavor is aight. Smooth, little poop, minimal awesomeness. Not great by any measure, but it could be a lot worse.

Sampled from the bottle right at the brewery. Solid amber beer with a nice creamy body. They’re going toe-to-toe with Dos Equis Amber with this and come out a winner by a mile -- well made malty brew. (#3516, 2/19/2009)

Nicely ballanced, not too much on the munich malt. Very good beer, and easy to drink.

Slight raisin chocolate nose with a hint of pepper and nutmeg. Brownish amber color with a frothy smallish head. Mild caramel sweetness, with some steelish mild bitterness. Well carbonated, light to medium body, has a decent caramel finish. Easy drinking, has some good bones, but very mild in its expression, which is just fine for what it is.

Pours a brownish color with a small head with a molasses and crystal malt aroma. Medium-high carbonation with a dry slightly sweet brown sugar and heavy malt taste. I think the aroma is a little better than the taste. But this is one of the better ambers I have had and definitely the best Mexican style beer I have had.

Medium amber; headless. Light body with a syrupy base. Big toast, some roast, nuts, caramel and toffee. Some Oktoberfest characteristics. Mild, herbal bitterness. OK session beer but not very exciting.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2008 Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is clear dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, caramel), lightly hoppy (apricot), with notes of bile, zucchini, and hair spray. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. What a bummer...as with the bottled Orale I just sampled, this is tainted with some really nasty aromas (chemical, vegetal, vomit-like) that literally makes my stomach flip every time I take a sniff. They’re hidden slightly better under the malt here than in the Orale, but they’re impossible to escape. That these off notes appear in both beers means the Orale wasn’t a fluke (and no, it’s not my glassware). So sad when this happens...it was reasonably drinkable at GABF last year. Truly scary in bottled form though. Hope they fix the issues.
