Anniversary versions 2004, 2007 and 2011: A dark full bodied stout aged in a whiskey barrel for 10 months. This beer is big, black, and mad.

15th Anniversary version (pictured): In celebration of our 15 year anniversary, Brewmaster John Harrison has reserved a single 25 year old bourbon barrel filled with our Russian Imperial Stout that has been aging for one year. This beer is as black as the night, with bold flavors of bourbon, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. First one-litre bottle release.

Cask. Holy pitch black goodness batman! A creamy dark brown head sits on top. The beer is simply phenomenal. Rich chocolate meets vanilla and coconut. Viscous but not sticky. Rich mouthfeel and super easy drinking for an imperial stout. Un freaking real. Amazingly complex and perfectly crafted.

Sampled at the Delafield Brewhaus in Delafield, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark brown colored brew with a tan head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of bourbon,m coconut, chocolate, a hint of vanilla, and some brown sugar. Taste is full bodied, with more bourbon presence than aroma. Flavors include toasted dark malts, Bakerís chocolate, vanilla and some alcohol. Finish is quite smooth with a chocolate Mounds candy bar aftertaste with some bourbon, vanilla and a hint of molasses. Impressive.

Re-released for 15th Anniversary. 10% ABV and aged 12 months. Draft. Black. Nice creamy chocolate brown head, partly diminishing. Nose is chocolate, dark chocolate, dark roast, caramel/Brown sugar. touches of vanilla and the smoothest whiskey notes. Nose is really balanced. Perfect amount of moderate sweetness. Full bodied and smooth. Creamy with a great flow. Little woody dryness and awesomely balanced whiskey barrel character just melds right in. Dark roast, sweetness, and whiskey barrel are supremely balanced. Never gets hot or boozey despite the firm bourbon presence. classic. Not too big or cloying or obnoxious. This is how to do a BA RIS.

Draft sample. Poured black color with an average creamy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate malt bourbon, woody and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a rich smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted sweet chocolate cream and bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy sweet smooth finish of moderate to long duration. A standout brew.

On tap at the brewhaus. Pours chunky; black as night, black as coal, with a greate chocolate milk head. Aroma (yes!) ... could get immediately drunk off the aroma. Vanilla, raisin, caramel and ... whiskey. Taste is caramel, toffee, vanilla, grapey fruit and Jim Beam. Finishes alcoholly and somewhat long.

On tap at Delafield Brewhaus, and Iíve been looking for this since I moved to Wisconsin! Poured inky black with a deep tan head.. great color to it! The aroma picked up rich roasted coffee and chocolate with a Port wine backing.. the barrel accented the malts perfectly.. warm and welcoming. The flavor found bakerís chocolate, coffee, molasses, and a touch of honey on the chewy, malty core.. vinous notes and vanilla extended outward.. dry, peppery earth and boozage rounded it out.. just a touch sharp at times, but otherwise excellent! Heavier-bodied with low-moderate carbonation on the palate.. near-perfect barrel integration.. long, warming finish. Weird that I got more wine barrel than whiskey, but it was still delicious. I need to drink more while itís around!

Draught at the BrewPub ("Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged." 11.5%ABV): Aroma of vanill, Bourbon, oak, and malt. Poured black in color with a small, brown head around the edges only that lasted throughout. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of Bourbon, oak, vanilla, light alcohol, and light coconut. Medium to full body. Average to slightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Oak, vanilla, malt, Bourbon, slight coconut finish is slightly dry.

On tap at Delafield Brewhaus, what a freaking find here, this beer alone is worth it to come here, poured into a 12oz snifter, pours pitch black with a thin tan head and lacing through out the glass, the aroma is full of whiskey with chocolate, coffee and toffee all together, the flavor is full of chocolate, vanilla, coffee and a finish of whiskey that is blended perfectly, seriously, this is one awesome brew!

On tap at the Brewhaus. The 2007 is whiskey barrel aged for 12 months. The alcohol is 11.5. Ths is a better stout than the last release. Very balanced, sweet, chocolate, bourbon and vanilla notes. The alcohol is warming but does not overpower. One of Johnís best.

On tap at the 2007 GTMW: Pours an oily opaque with a dense, small bubbled frothy dark tan head. Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel and chocolate malts with maple syrup and a touch of oxidation. Body starts fairly full and sweet with good earthy dark chocolate bitterness and plenty of oaky bourbon warmth. A pretty good barrel-aged imperial stout.
