A strong nutty-malty aroma, medium-brown translucent body with decent head; malty warm-sweet flavor with grapefruity bitterness to counter. Fine alt, one of the best I’ve sampled from the pub.

On tap @ Delafield. Amber with a small head. Nice hop dominant aroma of citrus, pine and flowers with a light cracker malt scent. Flavor is a bit buttery with mellow hop bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation and a sticky mouth feel. Pretty nice beer, although the buttery quality is distracting.

Brown Coloring with White Skin. Sweet Heavy Hop Aroma. Mouthfeel Isn’t Creamy as Much as its Incredibly Smooth with Light Dusty Malt and Dry Hop Aftertaste. Hops are More Apparent After Continued Sampling. Overall a Pinch on the Simplistic Side, But a Nice Brown All the Same.

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2006 Cask; had a medium sweet caramel aroma. Deep amber body with no head. Flavor was like drinking a warm ginger brandy. Was smooth enjoyable beer.

Cask. Deep, solid mahogany and barely translucent with a lasting creamy tan-to-grey head. Caramel, unsalted pecans and mild cocoa butter take lead on the nose, congruently joined with a signature spiciness, hearty whole wheat and rye dinner rolls. Oaky cask smoothness is immediately appreciated by the palate. Ginger snap cookies take the brunt of flavoring while basking with subtle artesian chocolate. Rye, peat, whole wheat dough and almond butter add more to this rendition’s appreciation. Rich and modestly heavy palate feel are inflicted from God knows where. Carbonation is nearly extinguished, allowing the true body to shine. Perhaps the best brown I’ve ever had.

Cask. Brown to red color with what appear to be hop particles floating around. No head. The aroma is very hop pronounced with a bit of a vine quality to it. Flavor of muddled hops. Dry and slightly bitter finish. A bit one dimensional, but tasty enough.

Darm amber color, off-white creamy head. Smelly foot hop taste. Weird, don’t know why. Same w/ aroma. Like some overly aged Italian deli string cheese.

Brown colored body with a dark copper glimmer when held to the light. Small off-white head. Licorice, caramel, and mild hops (lightly floral) aromas. Pale and caramel malts mingle with herbal hops. A nice balanced brown ale. Been a long time since I have really enjoyed a brown ale.

UPDATED: FEB 29, 2008 On tap at the brewery 11/26/2004 Delafield Brewhaus Hop Harvest Ale is a deep brown red with a decent head and lots of lace. The aroma is quite floral. The flavor is rather dry with a long lingering bitterness. The palate is fairly satisfying. Overall, nice and fresh tasting.

Had this by mistake, ordered the Export Lager and was served the Hop Harvest. After taking a sip, decided to keep it. Decidedly not the golden hue of the lager, this alt is dark brown, and has a pronounced hops flavor that I did not find to be bitter. Another well-done seasonal by the Brewhaus.

Beautiful shade of brown with a sweet, and hoppy nose, also woody. Medium body provides great malt flavor and finish is really hoppy, grassy, bitter. Long lasting hops flavor afterward. Terrific. So much flavor and balance here.
