esjaygee (599), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA May 11, 2008 Dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma of mild fruit, sweet malts and toffee. Taste is semi-sweet with notes of fruit, caramel and a touch of smoke. Body is a bit over-carbonated leading to a dry finish. Petrucci914 (306), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours a dark maroon color with a medium fizzy off-white head. Aroma is currant, some smokiness, and a hint of chocolate or sweet malts. Taste is about the same. Quite an interesting brew. Seems like a marriage between a smoked beer and a fruit beer featuring currants. Skyview (2637), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Apr 19, 2008 On draught at the brewpub in Delafield, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark cola brown brew with a thick fiizzy beige head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and thin beige ring. Aroma of dry hops, some tart berries, caramel malt and a touch of yeast. Taste is medium bodied, well carbonated, with a dry flavor of tart and dark pitted fruits, some caramel malt and plenty of dry grassy hops. Finish is quite dry for a Belgian style ale. Almost has a fuggles dry hop character with some aftertaste of tart dark berries and caramel malt. An interesting beer though I am not sure about the Belgian-style classification.
