Sample from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a translucent deep brown with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Flavor begins with roasted malts and chocolate, but finishes with strong butterscotch and sweet grains.

Draft at the brewery. Chalky brown-black. Steady beige head. Mild, subdued chocolate aroma. Leagues better than the Amber, but still a little thin and watery. Some caramel tones, specialty malts cover up the odd Delafield undertones. Dealable, about as nice as a Michelob Porter without the quality control.

Druaght at the pub. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with some reddish hues. Persistent, soapy, light tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty leading up to a very sweet flavor that also boasts a significant roasyt character. There is a caramely genericness to the malt profile that is a bit off-putting (extract?)

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 notalush (3742) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 11, 2009
Looks pretty good - dark brown, with a soapy tan head - medium bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel - semi-sweet vanilla and roasted malt give way to a smoky, slightly ashy finish - the ashy character gets really strong as it warms, and kind of takes over the beer - meh.
