COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

An all Cortland cider. Still, light golden. Gently tart nose offers a good sweet/dry balance, well focused on juicy, crisp and bready flavors. Good sense of balance, well done and honest cider full of fresh, sweetich eating apples. Homogeneous body, still and barely warming. Good execution, but not likely to win any originality prices.

A pale yellow cider. Fresh apples in aroma with light vinegar notes. A funky apple in mouth, sourness of toothpaste, light acidic points, astringent.

(Rating #1806)

500 ml bottle from Goldorak, no discernible date but acquired Spring 2006. Served a bit above fridge temperature into a White Winter Winery glass. Pours a thick, slightly oily-looking gold with faint almost imperceptible legs in the glass, no bubbling at all....nose is redolent of old, musty apples, lightly alcoholic with faint dried caramel notes, a bit of baked apple as it warms....body quite sweet at the front with only a faint hint of alcohol, touch woody and spicy, booziness does show up more towards the rather dried-out, thinner finish. Perfectly drinkable and though there’s a bit of burn it certainly doesn’t feel like 10%, but ultimately rather ordinary.

UPDATED: AUG 22, 2006 A shy aroma proposes moderate lactic sweetness and light alcohol...Whispering white pepper gets along with the finishing alcohol bite...A scrumptious body offers but leveled apple character for a strong cider which somewhat lacks in complexity in the end...
