Bottle of 33cl, in a Tumbler glass; from the fridge. Well, average blonde beer, with nice taste and appearance. Nothing more to say about it.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2015 Commissioned by the Delhaize supermarket chain, I got to know this beer many years ago when it was apparently still brewed by De Smedt (now Affligem under Heineken) and presented as a Christmas beer towards the year’s end; nowadays it is available throughout the year and no longer limited to being a Christmas beer. Pours a clear and warm golden blonde, clear with regular fizz but slightly hazy with deposit, under a thick, snow white, sticky head. Aroma is a bit sourish and vegetable-like, DMS clearly present (cooked cauliflower), apart from sweaty grains, a faint hint of burnt rubber, plastic, and, frankly, diswhater, further compromizing the otherwise not too unpleasant hints of green apple, young ’jenever’, flowers, soapy hops, white bread and yoghurt. Tastes fortunately better than it smells: lightly estery, apple, some banana and mandarin, rounded and slick mouthfeel, a bit metallic, slight sugary sweetishness as well as sweetish pale malts, soft, minerally with medium to strongish carbo, finishing in a mild grassy hop bitterishness, medium long, dryish with quite some wodka-like alcohol, though less wry than I had feared; malt sweetness and even ’powder sugary’ sweetness also keeps lingering, in fact longer than the hop bitters. In all: another attempt at rivalling the sovereign Duvel, but not nearly there, much like the old Lucifer under Riva. The aroma is just too flawed to fully enjoy this, but I don’t really complain about the taste. But hey, enjoying a drink also has a lot to do with smelling it, hasn’t it?

Pours a murky yellow colour with little carbonation. Strong bitter, hoppy aroma, little scent of citrus there. Hoppy bready bitter flavour, nothing special but not bad. Goes down smooth, little touch of alcohol, thin/medium bodied.

Pale golden coloured beer with a small white head. Aroma is malty and yeasty. Flavour is medium sweet yeasty and a bit acidic in the aftertaste. (Bottle 33cl)

Bottle@Brussels, July 2012. Golden color, lasting white head. Spicy flavor reminiscent of Duvel. Medium-full body, high carbonation. Pretty good.

Not a bad one. Just a duvel from delhaize with a bit less sweetness and hops than the original piwo. Still bit sweetish, quaffy, big carbo. Not rocket science but a good brewed quality beer.

Didn’t really want to buy and drink this one, but my hubby forced me to ;-) Pours out in a light hazy golden colour with steady, creamy head and medium body. Nose of pukey sourness. Taste of mild ripe hops, grass, mash, sour barley and citrus fruits. Easy, but not nice to drink, alone for the puke character on the nose.
