Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

Bottle. Dark brown with quickly dissapearing head. Cherry malt aroma. Feel is overly fizzy. Semi-sweet with a bit of raison. Not my favorite strong ale.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2006 Another one of my favorites! Pours a dark brown into the glass. Fruity, yeasty aroma. Peppery with a pleasant alcohol hint in the finish. This beer makes me feel all warm inside. Gotta love the bottle!!!

Pours dark brownish red with a small head and huge chunks of yeast. Dark fruits and caramel in the aroma - plum, honey, raisins, cherry, figs, fruit cake. Lots of fruit in the taste, but it’s too thin and lacks complexity. The alcohol comes through very weaky as well. There are much better Belgians out there.

Raosted and fruit forward nose of bread, cookies, ripe figs and plums with a touch of white pepper. Mildly acidic and fruit forward palate with a touch of candy sugar ie; Turbinado. Fast dissipating head with medium release of gases. Average beer that bores very rapidly.

Deep brown color with a small head. Aroma of fruit, alcohol and brown sugar. Flavors are a well balanced combo of malt, sugar, a hint og Belgian chocolate and sweet fruits. Finish is clean with a slight leftover taste of alcohol. Very nice beer.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2005 Cloudy dark brown appearance with tan head. Aroma like wine. Tastes of burnt sugar, dark fruits, and chocolate. Lingering head adds a nice creaminess. Alcohol content is obvious in finish.

Bottle. Cloudy mahogany pour with a small tan dissipating head. Sweet flavor, almost sugary. Hint of alcohol on the finish. Well underrated in this rater’s opinion.

Dark brown, low dissapearing head. Sugary, yeasty aroma of alcohol, pears and almonds. Flavour of burnt sugar, dried cherries, candied pears, alcohol and raw yeast. Sugary finish of coffee and candied pears with a roasted undertone.

750 ml bottle purchased from Whole Foods. 8.5% ABV. Clear dark reddish amber hued having small diminishing off-white head with spare lacing. Lovely spicy aroma with fruity esters. Some carbonation. Medium-to-full bodied that starts with sharp, slightly sweet malt with ripe fruit and caramel hints and finishes slight dry with light bitterness. Definite alcoholic warmth. A bit drier and more complex than its companion, Delirium Tremens. A wonderful tasty beer that goes well with pizza.
