3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours like a fizzy cola. The effervescent head reeks of alcohol as it dissipates. The aroma is a sharp burnt malt and alcohol. Maybe more there but the heavy alcohol burned my lungs. Actually smooth and oily, with a tangy bite in the finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Well, not as good as I hadhoped. Looked ok - dark honey brown, with a persistant tan head. A sweet aroma, with a hint of alcohol. Sweet flavor, with a strong taste of rubbing alcohol. Light on the mouthfeel. Not bad, but have had much better belgiums.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours with a frothy, initially two-finger thick, amber-hued tan colored head that consists of fairly large bubbles. The beer itself is quite dark and sits an ever-so-lightly purple tinged, black color, but shows some nice, clear ruby highlights when held up to the light. The aroma has a nice concentrated fruit character up front with nice notes of figs and raisins being prominent. The aroma really is quite sweet and fruity, the sweetness is not that of sugar, but that of concentrated dried fruit. Some spicy notes of clove, something that is a bit like cinnamon (though not quite), and even a spicy cardamom type note round out the aroma; each of these is quite a subtle backdrop to the dominant fruit notes.
The taste is sweet up front, but not nearly as much as the aroma might suggest. The sweetness couples with a tartness, both of which help to amplify a concentrated fruitiness. Again, notes of figs and raisins are prominent, but these are joined by notes of prunes and even some tart plum. The beer finishes with a faint roasted note, that shows up more as a burnt acidity, a bit of a spicy note (reminiscent of tongue tingling ginger, and white pepper) and a touch of higher alcohol notes. This beer is quite drinkable, despite its sweetness, the beer is quite light as it slips down your throat. It does have enough sweetness to linger a bit on the palate. Certainly an enjoyable tipple, one which I have not had for some time.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught, own stumpy tulip @ the Delirium Café, Brussels.
Bright, lean mahogany body with a soapy pad of tan bubbles that was more charge from the tap than body of the beer as it didn’t last too long at all. Burnt toast, treacly toffee, savoury dried fruits and tree-bark bounce from the glass to greet the nose. Rich, sticky toffee, sparse chocolaty malts and bitter burnt caramel in the mouth. Yeasty, bready and smooth mouthfeel, though it was served a little too cold. Bitter malt in the swallow, dries out and has some savoury fruits and smoke in the aftertaste that linger shortly between sips. Quite sweet on the palate but with the alcohol well hidden the savoury, bitter malts balance it out with some degrees of success. Not as good as the Tripel, but I say this is one that needs to be tasted from the bottle. Draught, it was just above average.

I like Belgian beers, and this one did not disappoint. Not overly complex; a little fruity and somewhat syrupy. Pretty good beer.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown ale with a thick moka head. Light moka chocolate and gin alcohol, with light orange peels. In mouth, rather nice lightly smoked peat finishm with a initial bitter chocolate, coriander and orange peels. A bit short in mouth and too much alcohol, unbalanced. Bottle at l’Autre Oeil, August 4, 2006.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I had this on tap at the Delirium Cafe in Brussels. Seemed like the thing to do at the time. Turns out the name delirium really has nothing to do with this place. The beer was dark, malty, and smooth. not alcoholic. pretty alright.
