3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Slight vinegar nose with some raisin aromas, but mostly yeasty. Dark brown color with sticky foamy head. Chocolate noate, some caramel, and a woody dry-ish end. Coffee-like bitterness, though light. Heavy and solid body. Warming alcohol effect after the swallow though very light.

One of those beers I didnít order because I was damn sure I had it before - well, no! Nice dark mahagony color with a medium frothy head. Great and huge coffee, roasted malt and dark berry nose. Suprisingly weak caramel and toffee taste in comparision to the nose. Unbalanced.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2011 33cl bottle from Belgium. Ruby colour wit lasting beige head. Surprisingly pineapple fruit on aroma with black cherries, choc/coffee. Bizarre combination of freshness and darkness. Full in mouth, with touch of juicy sweetness and then choccy hoppy end. Utterly stunning. Some of the lime flavoured acids are remarkable 4.5/5. Re-rate. Definitely fruit on aroma, not sure its pineapple though. Itís a decent regular slightly fruity strong Belgian ale. I do like the fruity flavours though. Not sure I like it as a 4.5/5 beer, but I do like it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Murky brown body, topped with mocha cream. Pretty lacing. Nose is hit with spices, abundant prunes, raisin bread, and yeasty whallop. Flavours consist of flowery, sweet raisiny, molasses and bread. Slight warming qualities. Fairly redeeming. Good examplw of the style.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Ah, Iím still waiting to be dissapointed by those wacky trappists. This is beautifully done, all cream and orange, with bits of nutmeg swirling about to keep the tongue busy and just the right bit of carbonation and alcohol. Smooth, lovely, and fun to curl up with--if you can afford it. Kind of like Selma Hayek, no?

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark and lovely, with a diverse range of flavors--a little bitter but mostly sweet and sour. The sweetness in quite complex--kind of like the crust on a creme brulee. A much more interesting beer than the Tremens.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
large full tan head over a dark brown pour, the scent is just a little off, definately has some alcohol in it a bit of an odd malty aroma sweet but strange hints of barley I think in the aroma and lots and lots of spices. Palate was full lightly creamy well carbonated. Flavor is a bit light for a "big" beer. Lots of spice nutmeg and others, hints of weak alcohol and a dull sweet malt. Overall a fairly underimpressive brew.

the bottle was insane looking so i had to try it. Donít remember exactly what it tasted like, but it was pretty good, but not good enough to shell out the money for some more of these pricy suckers.
