Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

75cl bottle, cork dated 2003. Raisins and grapes in the nose. Thick head falls leaving slight lace behind. A nice look and good fruity aroma lead to a very vacant tasting beer. Just nothing there. Alcohol doesn’t show up, but nothing else beside some dark malt and corkiness. Nothing attractive or redeeming here. Empty.

Dark brown with a small head. Smells sweet, almost eggnoggy, raiseny, etc. Very nice. Flavor is slightly strongly weak (make sense?), and the alcohol is well hidden. Finishes bitter, but overall the alcohol is well hidden. Nice.

Thick whipped froth with significant staying powers. It sits like a crown on the burnt caramel colored beer. Aroma of strong froot bomb mixed with alcohol that totally reminds me of some old-timey health tonic. Smells too, of day old pee pants from my toddler. Nice smoke and dry woody palate players drumming along on this wicked jammy roller coaster. Layers of thick fruit jams stuck to the bottom of the pan; apple butter cooked thick and sticky in a cast iron kettle. The alcohol kicks the dark malts into blackstrap molasses. Overall, it tastes like fruit cake with some dark toasted walnuts and filberts, and maybe some chestnuts. Alcohol all over. A bit rough, a bit sweet.

This poured out a thick brown with a large frizzy tan head. The aroma is predominantly alcohol, medicinal like, with scents of dried fruits and mild spicing. It’s kind of syrupy to drink, coating the mouth and throat with alcohol. Tastes like alcohol, maple, anise... not in the best of flavor blendings. Strong alcohol finish.

Nice syrupy body, not nearly as fruity as I imagined, which I thought was great. Slightly bitter, thanks to Biscuit from The Forum for recommending it to me!

Love the pink elephant. Bought the cool snifter. The beer, however, is another story. Dark brown body, quickly disappearing head. Intense dried fruit aroma: prunes, raisins, dried apricot. A hint of anise. Syrupy feel to it. The flavor was sweet, almost cloyingly. Alcoholic. Disappointing.

1 year from BB date. poured an avg brown with avg head. Hints of brown sugar and very mild spice. Dryish finish. Not bad but wasn’t impressed by any means. The Delirium NOEL rocks tho.

Middle of the road for Strong Ales. which is still above average. Dark brown colour. Sweet Aroma reeks of dates, prunes, raisin, alcohol, nutmeg. Slightly malty toffee. Hint of oranges. Finishes sweet, almost syrupy like those chocolate wine candies.

Bottled: Pours out very carbonated dark brown color with a quick forming white head. It has a cherry aroma with notes of malt. The taste is not overly complex, but not too bad. It has notes of semi-sweet chocolate cherries and ends with a taste of spices.

Pours hazy cola with a quickly disipating tan head. Big estery aroma with berries, brown sugar and spice. Toffee and burnt flavours. The beer isn’t off but there is something that makes it taste horrible. A bit of chocolate, burnt butter, grape/raisin. Hint of smoke. Oaky red wine mixed with a fruity beer. I don’t like the flavour at all.
