COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

Would probably drop my rating were it not for just being clobbered by some of the flavors. Not that it was a good thing, but guess there was at least some good to be picked out of the sweet chaos. No, I don’t mean SWEET chaos, but a chaotic blend that tends to be TOO sweet for my taste.

Great. Just great... Dark brown color, small white head. Nose of caremel, chocolate, sweetness and hops. Tastes of chocolate and sweetness. Very blended - delicious!

The darker sister of Tremens. A fizzy brew with alcohol warmth, fruit cake flavours and some herbal sarsaparilla. For some reason I have the American 8.5% version complete with California Cash Refund stamped on the back. There’s stuff to like about this, but not a lot. The flavours swim around in a loose manner, completely unattached, while the mouthfeel is crude. Not a good beer.

Bottled, at the Dovetail, London.
Brown with full Belgian seized head, crusties and all. Toffee and raisin aroma that is frank and refreshing. Sweet toffee flavour with a myriad of soft spiced flavours. Orange zest thrown in to add to the sharp, dry, bitter finish.

Dark, almost opaque, ruby. Brown coffee head, mostly vanishing. Aroma is prunes, rye, yeast and raisins. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied: roasted, sweet prunes, malts and bread. Bitter aftertaste. Hides ABV very well.

Cloudy dark reddish brown with a massive off white head. Musty aroma of nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, prune, ginger, anise, molasses, and banana bread. Medium watery body with very livey carbonation. Very spicy, sweet fruity flavor of plum, raisin, ginger, melon, clove, banana bread, molasses, anise, and nutmeg. I thought this one was damn tasty. Very good.
