Had this a BBQ Fanatics in Newfoundland, NJ in plastic cocktail cups. This has a weird/unique taste to it.

Appearance is mauve and mahogany, opaque in the center with some translucence showing at the edges. Aroma is malty w/ dried cherries and raisins, a touch of cedar, and some caramel. I got a lot of raisin and cherry on the tongue w/ some terriyaki/soy sauce mixed in. Good carbonation, though a bit hot on the tongue -- alcohol comes through too strong. Pretty smooth and the finish wasn’t obnoxiously long.

Hungary 2010, bottle. Dark brown red with a one finger beige head. Dark fruity malt on the nose, taste is dark malts, yeast fruit esters, alcohol and apricot finish.

Pours a deep auburn w/ ruby highlights. Big tan head that hangs but does not lace. Plenty of small carbonation. Wonderful aroma, dark fruits, plum, raisin, caramel, sweet, bready. Not hops to speak of. Some spice notes. Medium body, finish is strange, some bitterness but also sweet, and top it off with something that tastes rusty, not sure what it is. On the tongue, dark fruits, complex, caramel, sweet, overly sweet, bready. some spice, some alcohol present, and that unknown rusty-ish flavor flavor in the finish. What is it?

Bottle. Raisin aroma. Dark brown amber body with tall head, nice lacing. Taste of dark malts with raisin and plum, subtle sour anise - cocoa aftertaste.

On tap @ Delirium Cafe, Brussels. Just HAD to get this one on tap here. :-D My glass is filled with a deep red, clear body with an off-white, medium-sized head. Nose is all about port wine and roasted malts, but unfortunately not present enough to ring my bells to any significance. Taste is also quite strange, and also not exactly to my liking: an off-flavored fusion of dark malts and port wine-ish caramel. A bit sour towards the end, although I can’t put my finger on the nature of the sourness. I guess this is a kinda of beer people really disagree on, peculiar and characteristic as it is. Me, I’ll take the regular versions any time.
