MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Apr 25, 2008 [bottle] Pours deep amber with a huge, rocky, tan head. Aroma is tart apples, raisins, dark fruits, and a little bit of yeast. Flavor is fairly sweet, with raisins, brown sugar, and a tartness that lingers on the sides of your mouth. Mouthfeel is fairly light. Very, very drinkable for a beer, considering the abv and sweetness. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium Apr 25, 2008 Drunk it as well on draft as from bottle. Had also the possibility to drink some old versions. Spices are there and the old version was delicouses rampmaster (315), Alden, New York, USA Apr 24, 2008 Thanks to Patra for this wonderful birthday gift.
Nocturnum pours a dark brown with a ruby hue and a thick white head that slowly thins out. The aroma is wonderful and full of ripe fruit, candy and melon. The flavor is full of sweet fruits. Dried apricot, plum, orange marmalade and pineapple. There are sweet bready malts as well that mix with the fruit flavors to give this beer a fruit cake quality that has been laced with warming alcohol. This is a delightful Belgian ale with a full body, average carbonation and a sweet finish.
Pwn3d (1040), Manhattan, New York, USA Apr 23, 2008 Last beer of the night, which equates to the poorest review of the night. A really nice brew. Pours a cloudy bronze color. Yeast, spice and sweet dark fruits. Alcohol was hidden nicely. scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Apr 18, 2008 few beers look this great in a glass. dark hazy chestnut brown that gets lighter only on the very edge of the glass. The head clung to itself and refused to retreat down the sides of the glass, rather it rose taller and mightier with pride. heavy abbey aromas of dusty cherries and mahogany. sweet and ripe berries in the sip, mellow and very pleasing do drink quickly. few BSAs allow for this. Dark brown with a rather vinous aroma and flavor. Some yeast fruits donteatpoop (124), Youngstown, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2008 A dark cloudy brown with about an inch of tan head that leaves a little lace clinging to the glass.
Smelled of malts and raisins and something sweet... Maple?
The malts and maple(?) hit the mouth immediatley, followed by the raisins. Not a bad taste at all.
Leaves the mouth a little dry, but otherwise feels great on the palate.
I certainly could have drank another, but it wasn’t an overwhelming urge or anything.
Also, just as an aside; I really dug on the packaging of this one.

emerica56 (575), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Apr 15, 2008 When poured out into a trappist glass the color was of a caramel orange with a nice white head to it. the nose was of sweet apricots and other light fruity esters followed by some pepper bitter hops. The flavor initially was very peppery and tart on your tounge. Although you could really taste those light fruits in the back of your palate. the booze was kind of hidden but you knew it was there in the first few sips.
