17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 17, 2008 Updated: May 14, 2008A dark orange pour with a bubbly off-white head and large bubbles. Lots of yeast in the aroma, malt and prunes/oranges too. Body is light and fizzy to an extreme. Sweet toasty malts, yeasty, spicy and a slight metallic finish. Good belgian but the carbonation is just so extreme that it makes it hard to really get a good taste. TheEpeeist (1429), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 13, 2008 11.2 oz bottle. Cloudy sepia with ruby edges and a creamy tan froth. Nose is yeasty caramel and dried apricots with spices; a touch medicinal. Light tangy carb, medium light but substantial. Taste is banana, candi, sour apple and nutmeg. A tasty Belgian treat with a kick. LinusStick (1830), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 11, 2008 A nice, if not typical, Belgian strong. Had this New Years Eve and just found the piece of paper I wrote it on. Pour was a nice bubbly orange with a huge 3 finger off white head. Aroma was very fruity...orange, coriander and heavy yeast. Taste was the same. Very carbonated with a sweet candy sugar element that is a little too sweet for me. Nice bottle, though. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 11, 2008 Barely any detectable aroma, but perhaps a mild mustiness about it. Brown like iced tea, not hazy. Very little carbonation. The taste is unique, a musty farm qualtiy on a moldy palate. Has a bit of tartness in the background that makes it interesting. Hides alky well for a 9%. Overall just a tad too strong for my tongue. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Jan 10, 2008 On tap @ the Delirium Cafe Belgium. Nice deep brownish red color. Caramel malt nose and flavor stand out, and a sweet finish present. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 8, 2008 750ml Pours a burnt caramel color with a very fizzy off-white head. Nose of apples, yeast, and alcohol. There is a lot of malts with some apples, spice, and just a hint of bitterness. Very fruity. A nice full body with a little bit of oilyness. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jan 5, 2008 Dark brown colour with a short-lived tan coloured head. The aroma is sweet and malty. There are some berry fruits and a touch of burnt wood. There are smoky malty tastes and some sugary hints before a touch of alcohol at the finish. DownsouthGav (602), Greater London, England Jan 3, 2008 Draught @ Delerium Cafe, Brussels. Sweet malty nose. Pours clear caramel red beer. Some carbonation. A cream, fruity beer with some alcohol. Not as nice a the Tremens.
