April/May 2008: Delirium Nocturnum is dry and fruity with some light caramel and alcohol. However, the beer is not hot and does not burn. It has a medium-light body, a hazy amber brown color, and a big, bubbly tan-colored head. This beer is pretty good, but too light and bubbly for my taste...

1 pint 9.4 fl. oz. ceramic bottle (Alc 8.5% Vol.) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #911 for this beer.

750 ml bottle shared by Cruiser at dmacs UFC-100 gathering. Pours a deep woody amber with a big spritzy head which fades down. Aroma is very fruity- way too estery- going from apple, to slight banana- and going big with the purple fruitiness- fake grape- candy like- grape soda and big league chew- spicy and bubblegum phenols. Flavor is a sharp sweet dark candy sugar, brown sugar thinning warmness, more grape acetate esters, plums and raisin as well- with a spritzy belgian yeastiness- peppery and sharp with an earthy leather finish and more stupid grape. Meh.

Pours clear mahogany with with a 2 finger creamy tan head that lasts forever and leaves some decent lacing. Aroma is caramel, apple pie, toasted grain, crusty white bread, a little dark fruit, earth and some planty hops. Flavor is caramel, toffee, dusty grain, toasted grain, sweet malt, toffee, a little apple, some earthiness and dark fruit. Toward the finish the alcohol show up a little more than I would have liked and there is a little earthy bitterness that is pretty interesting. Palate is medium bodied with a slightly slick entry that quickly dries out and leaves you with a fairly dry finish. Pretty good overall, on a smaller sample I may have rated it around a 4.0 but given some time to dissect it I grew somewhat tired of it.

Appearance: Brown with lots of yeast flecks and a dirty brown head. Aroma: Yeast, caramel, lots of dark fruit with some alcohol and a good amount of malt. Flavour: Quite malty with a good deal of vanilla, plums and other dark fruits, some chocolate; toffee and a nice amount of carbonation with a long sweet finish. Not bad at all.

Bottle. Dark red colour. Aromas of raisin and cloves. Fruity flavour and spicy. I really prefer this one than the Delirium Tremens.

330mL bottle courtesy of sdriessen. Pours red/black with a big fluffy Duvel-esq tan head which lingers. Aromas of dark fruit, raisiny, cloves, aspects of both dubbel and tripel here. Flavour is very fruity, raisins dominate. The spice is very strong here. Quite a warming beer. Candy sweetness is balanced with a mild bitterness well. Bitterness lingers briefly with the spices. Quite a unique Belgian.

Drank from a bottle in a chalice. The beer pours redish brown with a good head and nice fruity caramal aroma. Tastes of chocolate and berries, I actually like this better than the tremens.
