Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

An alluring dark stout. Hints of chocolate, nuts and dried fruit. Burnt caramel head with yeasty undertones. A favorite for complex and slightly bitter lovers. If you like Guinness try this, you won’t be disappointed. Worth the slightly higher prices. A beautiful Belgian stout

This black ale is not for unskilled beer drinker that I was couple of years ago when I first tried it. It shocked me with the amount of alcohol in it and the bitterness. Now I like it for them.

Large frothy head accompanied by an opaque brown/crimson coloured body. Strong scent composed of sour dried fruit, nuts, roast, and yeast, although not particularly pleasant. I find the taste to be quite similar. Strong and complex, but not necessarily delicious. Hop, sour dried fruit, malt, roast, nuts, heavy yeast, and a sweet caramel finish. Difficult to rate, because although it’s not my favourite tasting beer, I continue to anticipate each subsequent taste due to its complexity. I’m certain it will grow on me.
