Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

DATE: June 2, 2016... OCCASION: ALL IN 2016--the Cavs begin their Finals battle with the Warriors....GLASSWARE: Affligem chalice... APPEARANCE: dark burgundy/brown body that permits little light through... a fizzy yet stable half-finger head that holds steady... AROMA: fr grape, almost sweet like wine, with a citric appeal... licourice and chocolate ... PALATE: soft, vibrant and active at both the teeth and the throat... sinfully subtle, with little alcohol to take note of... a quiver of warmth late.... light to medium-bodied, with some grit... TASTE: an unexpected strength of chocolate early--quite a dessertif!--before the orange and spiciness of coriander... toasted malts add weight to the flavor... a cakelike quality finishes the experience... plum and pear round out the profile... OVERALL: as subtle a devil as one will find in this dark a body... a great gift sent north by Uncle Mark, and one I have passed too many times when beer shopping... given the price. a bit steep, but a strong ale that has multiple dimensions....

Butelka 330. Ciemny mahoniowo -brazowy kolor. Piana bezowa lekko palona-srednia. Aromaty bardzo wywazone -nic nie rzuca sie na pierwszy plan. Delikatny karmel drozdze rodzynki i owoce. W smaku ciezkie owocowo drzdzowe. Slodkawe o slodowo-karmelowym zacieciu. Fajne dobrze zbalansowane piwo belgijskie na pierwszy dzien w nowym domu i przetarganiu tony rzeczy.

Bottle of 33cl, in a Trappist glass; from the fridge. We’re in front of a better beer than his sister (Delirium Tremens). Good colour and nice aroma of yeast and dark-brown sugar. The taste is sweet, with an aftertaste of yeast. Try it.

330ml bottle at De Oude Jan, Delft - Clear, reddish brown body with a huge beige head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, overripe fruit, yeast, coriander and alcohol. Sweet flavour of dark fruit, caramel and roasted malts, yeast, spice, ending with a dry, slightly tart, warming alcohol finish. Winter warmer in the rain.
