jgentgesdo (532), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA May 17, 2008 Pours deep amber with a large tan head that quickly diminishes and has almost no lacing. Nose is faint caramel, dust, allspice, white pepper, alcohol. Very slight caramel malt flavor, mixed with banana phenols, segues into a dry, peppery finish. There are complex sour notes. Faint smoky flavor in the finish. Rather watery mouthfeel. All of the flavors are very understated. Everything improves as it warms. I did not enjoy my first taste of this, but it grows on you.
pik5el (37), Pasadena, Maryland, USA Aug 21, 2008 Aroma: subtle but pleasant, plums, grape, currant
Appearance: nice head, leaves little lacing, color like black tea
Flavor: all kinds of things happening, sweet and bready with underlying fruitiness. dark fruits and dried stuff. lingering yeastiness.
Palate: meh. i don’t know that the flavor is accentuated that well by the carbonation. while within style guidelines, it just doesnt do anything for me. not a real strong alco burn though, that gets points. BuckyBazoo (23), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Aug 19, 2008 Very smooth and dark in color. Fruity undertone with creamy finish. Poured dark with a mid size head. Great all around brew! Rockinout (940), Kent, Ohio, USA Aug 17, 2008 Dark reddish brown in color with floaties about. Smells of sweet molasses and dark dried fruits. Finishes with a bit of alcohol. AndyReynolds (41), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Aug 15, 2008 Poured A deep brown with a thick mocca head. The aroma is dark fruits, brown sugar, and malty. The flavor was a little chocolatey, but not sweet. It felt very light in the mouth and it went down very easy. Unfortunately, this beer smelled better than it tasted. I found it to be a watered down version of a Belgian style ale. There is nothing really special about this beer other the the bottle it comes in. KDorgan12 (160), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Aug 8, 2008 750 Bottle-Memphis. Raisons were the first thing that came through in the nose. Light body with medium head. Dry, tart finish. made me think of cherries.
