Very appetizing aroma reminds me of candied cherries and caramel with a hint of cinnamon bread. Unfortunately, the flavor is not quite as exciting as the aroma. Some caramel with sweet sugary bread notes. Thoroughly enjoyable but not spectacular. AgentSteve (1379), SF Bay Area, California, USA

Had a granny smith apple and malty sweet aroma. Nutty fruit taste with a slight lemon bitterness. Thin mouthfeel and a little too fizzy for me.Not too bad overall. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Color is a dark ruby with good carbonation and a tight off white head. Aroma is a sweet toasted caramel scent. Taste is malty and fizzy. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a very fizzy feel. Finish is malty with a mild fruity yeast flavor and a dried fruit sweetness. After taste is clean and dry with the fruit slowly fading. This is a fabulous brew, mildly complex with great Belgian flavors. ilovedarkbeer (1369), Dallas, Texas, USA

Drank from a Duvel tulip that made this beer a monster. Smells of dark fruit, yeast, and belgian candi sugar. Tates of the same with a strange metallic bubble gum aftertaste. Good but not great. jaymobrown (1363), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Strong smell of sweet fruit and alcohol. Hint of apples possibly. Thick and dark appearance. A good dark, strong ale. A sour mash presence, with grapefruit tones. The alcohol and spice make for a good finish. Complex flavors. Enjoyed very much.
