COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

The aroma is mostly metallic; some malt, too. Dark orange, the colour of strong tea; the head is gigantic but it doesn’t stay for long. The taste is sweetish, just a bit bitter, and very, perhaps overly spicy; the alcohol reasonably masked. Medium body, tinkly and foamy to the tongue, average carbonation, spicy finish. A nice beer overall, and more enjoyable than most of this style.

Transfer from BA review on 7-14-12- Poured from 750 ml bottle into delirium tremens snifter Appearance – Pours a beautiful deep dark garnet color. Upon pouring there is a large thicker bodied off tan head that fades over moderate time. Once faded the head leaves a moderate amount of lacing. Smell – The smell is big of dark fruit, a brown sugar, brown bread and a good dose of spice. The fruit aromas a wonderful mix of cherry, prune, and fig with the spice aroma biggest of coriander and cinnamon. Mixed with these aromas are a hearty presence of alcohol, giving it a more “warming” aroma. Taste – The taste begins heavy in dark fruit flavors (raisin and prune) with a roasted bread taste. The dark fruit is quite persistent, but the bready flavor seems to fade some as the taste goes on. Yeast and some spice then soon hit the tongue as well as some alcohol flavor. The alcohol flavor intensifies more and more as the taste advances getting rather potent at the end. While strong, it is somewhat smooth and complimenting to the fruit and spicy flavors and leaves a warming somewhat ‘spiced liqour” flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the above average side in thickness with a carbonation level that is very average. The thicker body is quite nice for the darker flavors with the carbonation level providing just the right amount of tingling sensation for the spicy flavors. These mixed with the boozy flavors wonderfully to warm the mouth through and through Overall – This is a wonderful brew with a boozy and dark fruit flavor without being overly sweet. A wonderful Belgian strong dark.

Bottle. Reddish brown pour with a small head. Dark fruits and yeast aromas. Sweet fruit flavour, lots of Belgian yeast, lots of carbonation. A decent Belgian strong ale, not fantastic.

This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was a dark brownish red color with a level white to slight off white colored half fingered head. There was some light lacing. The smell had some light caramel, mocha and chocolate backed up gently by some black liqorice and coriander. The taste took the previously mentioned flavors and softened them to a sweet spiciness I’ve yet to encounter in pretty much any beer. On the palate, this one sat about a medium to heavy on the body, so yes, it does come across to me as a sipper. The carbonation finishes slightly smooth and creamy. Overall, in my opinion, this was a wonderful Belgian Strong ale to be had again.

Quite intense maltiness, bit fruity, light yeasty, some spices, dried fruits. Moderate sweet with some bitterness, dont like sourness in this one, even thou its ultra light. Would like to taste some hops here. It gets better close to finish. Decent brew, but bit weird

This beer has an enormous tan head and is a dark, rich red color. The aroma is an indulgent blend of Belgian yeast, clove, caramel malts, fig, a hint of mocha, and a hint of booze; the taste is an intricate blend of a mild sourness, mild sweetness, and slight umami, and the palate has a lively carbonation and finish reminiscent of raisins that overpowers the medium body and slick texture. Overally, the beer is a very pleasant brew that hides its booze well and pleases easily.

Bottle, 330ml. A copper reddish beer with a big foamy head that stays on after several minutes. Aroma is of caramel, roasted malt and alcohol. Taste is bitter with a strong finish and some carbonation and astrigency. Overall a good beer, but I think I like more Delirium Tremens.

Bottle from Rehills Newcastle. Pours beautifully rich dark brown with a mocha coloured head. Flavours of dark mature fruits and herbal elements. A prominent flavour which fades to a pleasant and not overpowering after taste
