3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Head: coffee beige, medium, creamy and frothy, good retention Colour: deep red-brown, hazy.
Aroma: fruit, caramel, grapes, white wine, also some sourness, minty, alcohol or solvent. Taste: dry and slightly sour, some fruity alcohol, spicy, moderate bitterness.
Complex, balanced sweetness, sourness, spicy, bitter and alcoholic. The taste (not the aroma) reminds me of Orval.

Not bad, a dark that isn't heavy and seems a little sweet. A little high I think in ABV but I'd have to recheck. Almost a chocolate aftertaste

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
An alluring dark stout. Hints of chocolate, nuts and dried fruit. Burnt caramel head with yeasty undertones. A favorite for complex and slightly bitter lovers. If you like Guinness try this, you wonít be disappointed. Worth the slightly higher prices. A beautiful Belgian stout

This black ale is not for unskilled beer drinker that I was couple of years ago when I first tried it. It shocked me with the amount of alcohol in it and the bitterness.
Now I like it for them.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Large frothy head accompanied by an opaque brown/crimson coloured body. Strong scent composed of sour dried fruit, nuts, roast, and yeast, although not particularly pleasant. I find the taste to be quite similar. Strong and complex, but not necessarily delicious. Hop, sour dried fruit, malt, roast, nuts, heavy yeast, and a sweet caramel finish. Difficult to rate, because although itís not my favourite tasting beer, I continue to anticipate each subsequent taste due to its complexity. Iím certain it will grow on me.
