COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

Dark ruddy brown with a rocky tan head. Sweet caramel, yeast and tons of phenols. Brown sugar and yeast flavors. Touch of lactic sourness. A disappointment as I enjot the DTs so much.

Medium tan head receding fast, dark brown body with hints of red, sweet slightly fruity nose with alcohol notes. Strong alcohol finish. Very sweet body, with brown sugar and ... Let’s just say it’s not two-dimensional.

Huyghe is , to me, a very exasperating brewery. They promise a lot, but always seem to deliver a very middle of the road brew. This is OK, but in almost all ways average. Nice odor, nice appearance, nice head, nice flavor, nice aftertaste, etc. Just, well, nice.

Bottled: Roasty nose with caramel and sour milk notes. Caramel followed by sour milk and bitter hop notes. Quite empthy end. Unbalanced.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2003 This beer is a mix of different flavours, but in my opinion it is a little bit too strong and sweet (caramel, chocolate and toffee), not really balanced. The finish is terribly alcoholic. Boring...

75 cL bottle, goblet, 50 degrees. Large, fizzy, tan head is quickly diminishing. Brown body has burgandy edges and tiny, dense particles. Nutty, molasses malt; grassy, perfume hops; cobweb yeast; bubble gum, red grapes, plum, pear, white wine, licorice, alcohol and solvent. Sounds pretty good on paper (minus the solvent part) but it really doesn't come together well at all. It's not that the flavors clash or anything; it's just that the aroma kind of burns my nose. Moderately sweet flavor; moderately sweet, lightly bitter, heavily acidic finish. The taste really lacks many of the flavors I was expecting to find. Medium-heavy body, somewhat creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. The bottom line is: checking the aroma of a beer should not cause pain.

Yellow pour with no head. predominately yeast in the nose and the taste. Not a very interesting beer.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2005 33 cl. bottle. Good aroma and nice appearance. However, disappointing flavor and mouthfeel with much too much alcohol taste. Overall a miss - nothing like Delirium Tremens!!

Light spiced aroma, too much smoke in the air to really. Deep brown/amber with off white head. A bit of a burnt malt bitterness. I remember this being much better than this one was. Notes: Delirium Cafe, Brussels
