Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

This beer is very warming in it being only 8.5%. Also not well balanced. Alcohol overwhelms and is harsh. Great aroma of fine liquor, sherry, and dark grapes. Some chocoalte, good hops, above average dubbel.

Dark amber ale. Malt aroma. Sweet malt flavour, strong alcohol, too much liquorice taste. Palate strong, but not convincing, lacks the aroma hop. Strong, without ’style’.

This is the brewery responsible for Florisgaarden Chocolate Gardenbier, a brew that apparently only I can tolerate. In contrast, the Nocturnum has a fairly strong touch of alcohol and sweetness. Pretty good. Better than Tremens.

Prefere the dilerium tremens, but still a pretty good beer

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This is another highly carbonated brew. Upon pouring it it immediately started to overflow my glass causing be to sip the foam fast! The head was filled with medium to large light brown bubbles. Its aroma was very pleasant and strong smelling. Its body is a almost non-transparent brown color. The head died quickly before I could take my first sip. There was almost no lacing on the side of the glass. A thick sweet taste filled with ..., god I wish I was better with tastes and smells. I can’t place it. I can taste the alcohol content in it. It is very strong. The palate is fine, but middle of the road. I am still looking for a brew to drink tonight!

Draught at The Bishops Arms, Göteborg, Sweden. Brown/Ruby colour with a fizzy head. Dried fruits in the aroma as well as plum and prune. Sugary flavour with notes of plum and prune. Sourish background.

Very dark brown, but with a reddish shine; big brownish head. Fruity nose, chlorophyl chewing gum, dark malts but restrained. Sweet taste, but with a (Good Heavens!) curry flavour. Roasted malts in the background. Retronasal again fruity tastes (blueberry?). Full bodied, but palate is rather thinnish. Aftertaste comes back with the curry/coriander flavour. Again, not one of my favourites. The nose promesses more than the beer delivers.

Beautiful dark brown color with a ruby glow and an off white head. Mild sweet prune aroma. Initially, flavor was fairly mild with some sweet malt and dried fruit. As it warmed, it turned very sour lemon, lactose and metallic. I definitely liked the initial flavor better. Nice carbonation, small tingly bubbles.
