Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

Appearance: Pours a dark maroon.
Aroma: Aroma of caramel, faint chocolate.

Summary: My first taste of Delirium, although not trying Tremens first. Solid for the style, not too exciting.

Chilled bottle into tulip. Dark red/brown with half a centimetre of head that endures. Smell is a bit funky - liquorice, coffee. Taste is mild bittersweet chocolate, a little yeast, toffee and fruits, slight sharpness to finish. Iím glad it doesnít taste as sickly as it smells. Mouthfeel is way too foamy for my liking. Not bad. This is one of those weird rating situations when I want to give low marks for palate and aroma but I have to give extra marks in order to make the overall rating fair.

Deep brown pour with a thin to almost non-existent head. Big time yeast aroma with a big full mouth. Taste is full of copper, hints of sugar and some toffee. Biting carbonation. Lingering sweetness and hints of roast round it out.

Huge POP from the cork scares schoolchildren miles away. Pours brownish-red with excessive white head. Small bubbles.

Belgian spice and dark fruits dominate the aroma. Grainy, sweet malt is whisked aside by more spices, plums, and figs on the palate. Bready throughout; sweetness in the middle subsides to finish crisp and dry. Prickly carb overachieves.

Dangerously drinkable for an 8.5%. A former favorite holds its own nicely.

750ml->Trappist. Dark brown with frothy effervescent tan head that slowly dissipates to a small film. A: dark and tart fruit, Belgian spice and yeast. T: dark fruit, citrus, caramel malt. Unfortunate metallic note. Crisp and dry finish. Bit disappointing.

Thick foamy head with beige/brownish color, spreading some malt aroma. Dark copper body. Strong taste of barrel, important sweetness with medium bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl Bottle taken in The Red Rose, Brugge on 1st Feb 2014. Time for bed after a day of drinking and this as my nightcap, pink elephants and sweet dreams await me: some heavy snoring too, claims the wife. The actual beer isnít as wonderful as all the hype would have you believe. Itís good, but not that good. It does pour an interesting dark brown with a red hue in strong light (something The Red Rose is lacking in), the head a beige blanket of foam. Interesting aromas and taste, sweet malty molasses rule the roost with all the flavours dominated by the strength and depth of them. They have hoofed in some spices to make it different from other brews in this style and itís rich enough body wise too: there just seems to be something unbalanced and wrong somewhere. Maybe the alcohol level is too high for me or it lacks a subtle bitterness most in this type of brew usually have
