COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

750ml brown bottle made to look ceramic. Translucent dark copper-red-brown body with chunks of yeast floating in int and a couple inches of light tan head. Scent is complex, including citrus, yeast, chocolate, caramel, and nut, among other things. If the aroma were stronger, it would be perfect IMO. Tastes initially fruity and yeasty, with roasty caramel and chocolate on the finish. Slight nutty and woody qualities round out the flavor. Light-to medium bodied, very refreshing with a fair bit of carbonation. Alcohol is hardly noticeable in either the flavor or mouthfeel. Wow. This beer is superb, damn near perfect. Probably my new favorite beer.

Coffee hop yeast funk and alcohol all perfectly balanced. Really dark. Super hoppy for such a dark beer.

As soon as you open the bottle, the wonderful apple and banana aroma spreads and fondles your nostrils. When pouring it gives a pleasant foam layer that is not too dense but is also not gone within 5 seconds. The colour is a warm, inviting ruby red that just makes you want to drink it NOW on a cold and windy day.. The tastes are nicely balanced, none of the flavours dominate the others. Not too sweet, not too bitter, it is just right. Obviously, this is one of the beers I always buy when going to my regular beer store.

De smaak volgt dezelfde evolutie als die van de "Tremens" : de zoete, fruitige aanzet (rozijnen) gaat over in een warm en vol midden, om pas in afdronk enige bitterheid te tonen (minder uitgesproken dan bij de Tremens)

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2003 this is the first true ale i ever had and a fifth got me drunk like i never had been. i didn't feel trashed, but i was in the mellowest buzz i had ever felt. i was in a perfect alcohol bliss. something tells me there may be something else in here other than alcohol, tho. who knows

Thanks to Patra for this wonderful birthday gift. Nocturnum pours a dark brown with a ruby hue and a thick white head that slowly thins out. The aroma is wonderful and full of ripe fruit, candy and melon. The flavor is full of sweet fruits. Dried apricot, plum, orange marmalade and pineapple. There are sweet bready malts as well that mix with the fruit flavors to give this beer a fruit cake quality that has been laced with warming alcohol. This is a delightful Belgian ale with a full body, average carbonation and a sweet finish.
