BeerFanDan17 (397), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA May 7, 2008 A great Belgian strong ale with a zingy palate. Flavors are citrusy and sweet but just short of overpowering. Pours yellow-tan with a nice creamy head.
Swalden_28 (640), McKinney, Texas, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle from Market Street in Allen, TX. Aroma of some dark fruit, spice, faint alcohol. Flavor has some dark fruit, faint licorish, Brett, farmhouse, alcohol, almond, fairly complex. Mouthfeel is light-medium body, champaign like fizzy, high carbonation. Very good beer.... shanepardue (80), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Oct 7, 2008 Very sweet, strong fruity flavor with typical Belgian strong finish. Another delicious Belgian Ale! bbrock81 (192), Le Mars, Iowa, USA Oct 4, 2008 Small, crimped cap bottle. Pours very dark red-brown, nearly opaque, with a medium head. Aroma is somewhat subdued, one-dimensionally sweet, dark fruits, mostly raisin. Flavor is much better, surprisingly dry, perhaps apple. Some malty sweetness again, pretty nicely rounded. Bananas? Quite tasty. Palate is crisp and dry, with a short finish that fades away to a nice hint of bitterness. Sigmund (1961), Hafrsfjord, Norway Oct 3, 2008 330 ml mock "stoneware" glass bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Chestnut coloured beer with a big and lasting tan head. Lovely aroma of various fruits and spices, hints of farmhouse kitchen and red wine vinegar. The flavour is malty with moderate notes of dried fruits and spices. Nice one. bellmyer (13), EAST MOLINE, Illinois, USA Sep 27, 2008 First rate, second bottle. Pours a deep red with a solid head that dissipates after a few moments but leaves a small ring. Aroma is of overripe fruit. Flavor is complex, sweet raisin almost. Lots of yeast flavor. Mouthfeel is present and stays with a nice warm alcohol touch. Excellent brew.
