jrallen34 (67), Illinois, USA Jul 2, 2009 Drank from a bottle in a chalice.
The beer pours redish brown with a good head and nice fruity caramal aroma.
Tastes of chocolate and berries, I actually like this better than the tremens. DigitalMan (82), Idaho, USA Jun 29, 2009 Bit of sourness in the aroma. Nice color, head seems a little "loose"... big bubbles, clumpy. Flavor? Gah! Gnar. Funky. Drain pour, I’m afraid. mxthem (11), Italy Jun 24, 2009 Rosso rubino, liquorosa con finale secco.
Ottima dark belga.
Bevuta alla spina in Pazzeria, spillata in co2. DeanF (72), Paris, France Jun 19, 2009 Pours dark red-brown and bubbly into a Belgian chalice. Head is big and persistent. Initial typical aromas of dark beer, but they could be stronger. Good mouthfeel, tastes of berries and chocolate, slight bittery alocohol finish. Goes down very smooth. Very nice dark beer. RichardW (139), Carlisle, Cumbria, England Jun 15, 2009 Bottle, Rehills, Newcastle. Never had this before and I’m mighty impressed. Fantastic dark cherry colour. There was the slightest sour note whilst pouring, but no trace of that in the taste. Intensely rich, yet easy on the palate, well carbonated - chocolate and cherry flavours swirling round my mouth in abundance. For a strong beer it doesn’t taste thick or heavy, in fact it’s very deceptive and an absolute belter. lumpsowers (235), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Jun 14, 2009 Chocolatey copper pour, medium head, nice lace. Strange fruitty vegetable aroma? Very fruitty with a dry alcoholic taste. Very sweet, with a slightly sour/green apple taste. Fizzy appley, unique and awesome, outstanding. I paid $11 for this bottle of beer, and it was pretty much worth it.
FastEddie (178), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 12, 2009 This is a true Belgian style ale of the highest tradition. It has a near-perfect balance of malt and hops, with more on the hops side. There are notes of raisins, chocolate, blackstrap molasses. I personally did not notice any alcoholic smell or taste. AmEricanbrew (1493), Port-Au-Shreve, Louisiana, USA Jun 12, 2009 33cl bottle. Deep ruby red color with a rocky tan head. Yeasty spicy rootbeer and dark malt aromas. Medium body. Classic yeasty Belgian dark ale flavors with rootbeer spice and earthy sweet brown malts. Nice.
